"Host" Sam
NOT the original host
remembers vague childhood memories and meeting dream pre-smp
only became aware he wasnt alone in his head when he had a massive blackout that ended with him in a stone brick structure he didn't recognize, surrounded by shattered glass and drenched in someone else's blood
doesnt know jack shit about the system. thinks he's being possessed or some shit and is trying so so hard to be normal about it
the engineer. the sam that befriended Dream and built the prison and he KNOWS redstone but has no idea where he learned all of it.
Warden
wannabe gatekeeper, PISS POOR caretaker, protector (cough persecutor cough cough) AND trauma/anger holder while working a nine to five (GET THIS MF OUT OF FRONT)
uses it/its in reference to himself because he doesn't think of himself as a person (eventually he shifts to he/it with some character development)
thinks he is the most aware, still doesn't know everything
told host sam "not to worry about it" while he caught Sam fronting in the spawn trap he built for ponk. his work was already done, no point in troubling his host with the details.
Holds a lot of negative emotions relating to Sam's relationship with Ponk bc while sam loved her, Warden remembers every time she got a little too silly with it and actively hurt sam in the process.
ASSHOLE. stubborn as hell. Refuses to let sam open up.
is convinced the system must stay hidden or else they'll be forcibly removed from the Warden position and thrown into a cell.
thinks if he's not running the prison dream breaking out goes from a probability to an eventuality.
Had been brewing since dream started talking about exile (so like. a day into being warden) but fully split after tommy's death and subsequent revival to keep sam from killing himself
genuinely grateful to Quackity for pulling Sam out of the hole. far more lenient with him than anybody else because of this (does not realize quackity is using him)
Nook
caretaker, presumed dormant until latching onto a fragment of an introject of the Sam Nook robot Sam built for Tommy.
EXTREMELY protective of the kids on the server. considers Tommy's friends under his protection as well.
is ACTUALLY the most aware, has technically been around the longest.
being actively suppressed by Warden since quackity's involvement in the prison.
has ZERO memory of anything related to the prison. Doesn't know tommy died and came back (would have fully gone dormant if he had found out)
has technically been around since sam was like, 12. learned to cook and clean and take care of Sam when Phil couldn't be assed to
beefing HARD with Warden for trying to play every role possible. was LIVID to find out what happened to Ranboo.

dream figured out how to leverage sam's memory gaps and dissociation to his benefit while sam was trapped in the prison. holds most of the memories of that time.
loyal to dream (not even out of fear, genuinely holds positive associations with dream, doesn't remember being killed by him). triggered out by specific phrases and symbols. nobody else knows what these are aside from the obvious smiley face symbol.
acts very much like a skittish animal. quiet. obedient. DEEPLY unnerving to everyone else in the system.
Warden wants to "get rid of it." sees prisoner as a liability
Sammy/Prince
little, trauma holder
six years old (youngest person ever)
only one who remembers life before phil beyond vague memories.
only reason anybody else is aware of his existence is bc of the singular therapy appointment with puffy that actually got them anywhere.
very polite little guy! warden didn't let him talk but he had fun drawing with his new friend "Cap'n Puffy"
warden was BIG MAD that smth in sam's brain exists without his knowledge. Nook already knew and that makes him even madder. little prince sammy just likes to draw and color
holds memories of the attack on the palace. too scared to even draw the thing that killed his parents, just calls it a "monster." (TOTALLY unrelated note, he is fucking terrified of Technoblade.)
does not front aside from that one time. can still passively influence sam to some extent when he is NEAR front (get baby beamed idiot)
Sam Prime
the og host. remembers the most time with philza, presumed dormant after phil left.
when he comes out of dormancy he's an age slider (middle (12) to early/mid 20s)
was aware of the caretaker but not the little. does not remember the incident but knows smth happened to his old home and that's why he's with phil.
Partially fuses with Sam for a bit upon waking up (the boomer lore is where he comes back) but the fusion is too overwhelming memory wise
the one who taught himself redstone out of sheer boredom waiting around for phil to come home.
would make redstone powered trinkets for phil and thrived on the praise he recieved for it
uhhh idk theres probably others like sam bucket but thats a whole other can of worms involving his alt bodies and how his consciousness splits between them and whatever.
tommy doesn't know jack shit about what a system is but he knows Something is up. he's like "heres my friend sam sometimes hes an npc sometimes hes my best friend but not when hes at the prison thats when hes "warden mode" and he has to leave to go back to normal" and anyone who knows what a system is hears this and goes "ah... i see"
