Mark Allen Mothersbaugh (born May 18, 1950) is best known as Devo's founder and lead singer. He also composed music for television shows, films, and video games. Mark wrote the theme song for the popular Nick Toon Rugrats and worked closely with filmmaker Wes Anderson overseeing the music and composing the scores for a few of his films. His music was " score sounding" during his solo career; he released four albums. He received an honorary doctorate in humane letters from Kent State University. Outside of music, Mothersbaugh is interested in creating multimedia. His work has been displayed in a gallery exhibition called"Beautiful Mutants," a photograph series of postcards, diaries, art rugs, sculptures, and musical instruments. I started listening to Devo in high school, not because of their song," Whip It"(it's overrated), but because I heard another song at a party. I picked up on their best-of albums and listened to them repeatedly. Devo was always on the back burner for the bands I was into. I still listened to them quite a bit. I went to a Devo and Talking Heads event once, years ago. It was pretty awesome. With a career lasting over 50 years, you have probably heard or seen some of his work.
