Nothing beats a bright and beautiful "supermoon." Except maybe, three supermoons! 2016 ends with a trio of full moons at their closest points to Earth.

Welcome to the Super Moon.
Every orbital period our moon enters what is known as a Lunar perigee. Basically meaning the point every month that the moon is closest to us here on Earth- about 226,425 miles away. But tonight, March 19th 2011, The moon is getting all up in our face, passing us at 221,567 miles – the closest pass in 18 years! So tonight our mild mannered night time friend is going by a different name- thats right make way for the "Extreme SuperMoon!" Technically its known as a Perigee-Syzygy (Syzyge simply meaning New or Full Moon) and in its entirity means that Earth, Sun and Moon are all lined up, with the moon being its closest to Earth. For us that means that the Moon is gonna be a bit larger, and noticeably brighter than usual. NEAT!
Now, While I'm perfectly content that our Moon is super shiny at the moment (I also like saying SUPERMOON- alot) The SuperMoon and its effects on our Planet is a quite a heated topic on the internets as of late and is being blamed for much of the Adverse weather world-wide. Some even say our SuperMoon is partially to blame for the Horrible Disaster in Japan!
Regaurdless of the Doom and Gloom surrounding it, Im enjoying every moment of our Super Saiyan Moon and all its Bright HD glory.
One Question still begs though- Does a SuperMoon create SuperWerewolves? Stay Frosty if you're taking a walk out on the Moors tonight- S'all I'm sayin'. :)
