In "Johnny Mnemonic", there's a gang called the Lo-Teks, some of whom have dog fang implants instead of regular human canines (pardon the pun). The one who appears most prominently is called Dog, and Gibson mentions in his description that his anti-rejection drugs must cost a fortune (which are much like neuropozyne in that sense). The story is part of the Sprawl universe (Burning Chrome (not all of it), Neuromancer, Count Zero, Mona Lisa Overdrive), which the original DX picks up a lot from.

That "dogmentation" joke from DX:HR is a reference to William Gibson's short story "Johnny Mnemonic", but I'd potentially spoil it if I told you exactly what it refers to.
