helloo can u explain what a tsqaure is and how it affects you?
Yes! I actually have a T-square in my chart. A T-Square is when you have an opposition in your chart and both of those placements are squaring one of your other placements, creating something that looks like a triangle within your chart. All planets involved will have the same modality (cardinal, fixed or mutable). The houses and placements involved in the T-Square will give you a hint as to where there might be tension in your life and what needs focus/improvement, along with the house rulerships of the planets being activated by the T-square—you could go even further and look at the dispositors of each placement that's involved in the T-square.
The focal/apex point is the placement receiving the squares from the opposing placements. In the diagram above, Mars is the apex point. The apex will show you where the most tension is in your life revolving the house it’s placed in—it's overwhelmed and not being properly/healthily utilized. You can see this tension with the themes of the houses the focal point(s) has rulership over. and the energy of the planet itself. Mars in the chart above is placed in the 10th house and rules the 5th and 10th house. The apex should always be the first thing you look at because you may be expressing the energy of these planets in a unhelpful manner. The planets in opposition that make a square to the apex shows how they contribute to the expression of the apex point.
To balance out a T-square, look to the opposite house where the focal point is—that is considered to be the missing leg and it can show you what topics you should pay more attention to help stabilize all the energy that focal point is receiving. Something within that house is being suppressed and your relationship with the themes of that house may potentially manifest negatively due to not knowing how to go about its topics. You can also find a “release” point by looking for any other placements in the chart that positively aspect (trine or sextile) any of the placements involved in the T-square. If you don’t have a release point, it is harder to remediate the tension in your life, but not impossible. The missing leg would be the 4H and the 4H is Venus ruled in the chart above. You could check where Venus is and see if/how it’s aspecting Mars, Sun or Jupiter—if there's no positive aspects being made to any of the planets within the T-square, this may be more challenging for the native.
T-squares bring immense pressure to where you kind of have no option to pay attention to because there will be so much tension, making it pretty hard to ignore which is the benefit of this configuration because you can be more aware of what areas of your life you need to transmute compared to a chart full of easy aspects. T-squares bring conflict and a "split" in one's character, making you feel that you're being pulled in different directions—this makes it hard to integrate all these energies within yourself so they constructively work together rather than against. The T-square can also point at talents and/or personal traits of yours. By approaching the T-square's components with that perspective, it makes it much easier to work with and it can help you find ways to constructively channel the nature of your T-square in a healthy manner.
In my tropical chart I have a T-square between Mars, Neptune, Jupiter, Mercury, and Venus. My focal point is Venus and Mercury. My Mars, Neptune and Jupiter are opposing each other while also squaring that Mercury and Venus. My apexes are in my 11H and has rulership over my 3rd, 4th, 12th and 11th so that gives a clue as to where the most tension is in my life, as well as the house the missing leg is in and its ruler. My 5th house is where the missing leg is so focusing on 5H topics (creativity, hobbies, fun, authentic expression, and romance) can help distribute some of that energy to ease some of the stress my Venus and Mercury are receiving.
My Mars rules over my 5H and although it’s a part of my T-square, this gives a clue as to why energy is not being properly utilized in that area of my life (my 5th house). My Mars is conjunct Neptune which definitely impacts my exertion, somewhat softening it. I’m an artist yet I really struggle with my creativity (5th house) because I frequently feel disconnected from my inner child due to trauma (5H ruler in 8H which is Mars, part of that T-square and 8H has to deal with trauma), so by working on my Mars and focusing on transforming (8H) that area of my life and applying more energy into my creativity (5H), I can strengthen the missing leg. I also have reproductive/hormonal issues due to my trauma which also points to that Mars-Neptune conjunction.
There's this book called "Planetary Aspects From Conflict to Cooperation" by Tracy Marks that I reallllly recommend if you want further information on T-squares. She gives a wonderful interpretation as to how a T-square functions and how to work with it. She associates the empty house/leg to be a part of you that was underdeveloped and deficient due to trauma which is interesting given that that's kind of what my T-square hints at. She also says that the apex of the T-square may be negatively expressed because it's carrying too much weight from the opposing planets that square the focal point which I personally agree with. Hope this helps!
