And now some Rural Charm related replies!

Hello, I’m sorry to bother you. I love your rural charm set! I was hoping to use the unified bridges/roads/narrow lanes with an “invisible” road default but they’re picking up the grass texture of the default. I was hoping you might be so kind as to make a version of those pieces with the rural charm textures on them? Thank you so much for all of your work, you’ve made my game so pretty! <3
Hey anon! Oh, I’m not sure if I would remaster these bridges any time soon. But there’s a workaround. You can change the type of the hood roads to dirt terrain type ones (for instance). Make invisible default replacement for them and then use Rural Charm bridges with original Rural Charm textures installed :)

Hi, I just installed your Rural Charm DR for lush and road replacement. They look very nice in game. I also installed your sidewalk set and having saw your reply to anon about replacing the textures, was wondering, if it is possible to recolor the item rather than replacing it? I have in mind to place squares about here and there to create a slightly more formal look. I have some items that you might be interested in for your Zagoskin landscape. So far, I have made 2 dirts and 1 lush lawn.
Hi maximumstrawberryparadise! Yes, you can. If you open the Rural Charm sidewalk textures package file, you can replace the texture with the one you fancy and once you have it, all the sidewalk pieces will have your texture even if you’ve placed them in your hood everywhere.

Hey anon! You can always check the dedicated Rural Charm page available straight from my tumblr page and download everything you need directly from there!

I love your Rural Charm Terrain. I'd Love Maxis Match Road to go with it. Having your Decorative Road Pieces be Maxis Match would be super cool also.
Hey nonnie! No problem with that. Just don’t put Rural Charm road textures into your ‘Downloads’ folder and you’ll have original Maxis temperate roads plus matching decorative pieces automatically picking up original Maxis temperate roads textures (except Y shaped decorative pieces).

Hi, I am so sorry if you've already answered this, but I cannot figure out the lot decorative road pieces. Every time I place them the sidewalk remains visible, which is a bit jarring since there is no sidewalk outside of the lot. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong.
Hey anon! You need to use ‘move objects on/off’ cheat to delete sidewalk floor tiles manually in order to get rid of them :}
Important update on Rural Charm T&RDR! Nhood Road Transparency Issue
This actually can ruin the whole experience. But fear not!
Ugh, when you prepare everything you’ve worked on for more than a year, it’s very easy to forgot to include something important. Like this neighbourhood transparency fix, for example >.<
This fix affects transparent areas on the sides of neighbourhood road, so the objects and decals below become visible and ‘cut-off’ effect disappears.
Like so:
Installation:
Just drop it into your ‘Downloads’ folder and you’re okay.
Compatibility:
the package file contains edited Maxis neighbourhood road shader. I’ve never seen any custom content that uses the same shader so far, so if you happen to have compatibility troubles while using this fix, please let me know.
Hey there, sorry to bother you but, is it safe to remove sidewalks? I've been using your rural charms lately and the overlays doesn't seem to cover it. Am I missing something?
Hello! Yes, it’s absolutely safe. Basically they’re just usual floor tiles. Just enter ‘moveobjects on’ cheat and delete them as you would delete any other floor tile. Also when you’re done you can also put ‘moveobjects off’ if you feel uncomfortable being able to accidentally move or delete objects such mail boxes, public phones or trash cans.
I want to try making a city-horizon recolor of one of your horizons. #1) are you okay with this? and #2) I'm not sure how I would go about it. Is there a tutorial I could follow for it?
Hey Ginger Ninja! I bet you’ve solved this already, but if you didn’t, @greatcheesecakepersona has an amazing tutorial on recoloring horizons. Literally, it’s just mind blowing. Take a look. And yes, I’m absolutely okay with this.

Will u create more houses for hood decoration? I think you could make houses like the ones from Desperate HouseWives btw i love your ccs
Hey anon! I definitely will be making more deco houses. Not sure about those type of houses though since I’m more interested in traditional European styles like Georgian brick country houses, or limestone buildings. That kind of stuff.
Anonymous said:
Hi. I hope your day is going well for you. Would you be able to do a video tutorial on how to light up buildings at night? Jw. If not, I’ll understand.
Hey there! Well, I do have a tutorial on how to enable the lit up at night feature for custom hood deco. Not video tutorial though and I don’t think I’ll ever be able to record a tutorial like that to be honest.

Hiya, I love using your hood deco lights, but I had been using Voeille’s water mod so I got your Better Nightlife download that incorporates the mod without conflict and am not using the original Voeille mod anymore. But the pond and pool water don’t have the quality Voeille’s mod should be giving them, the most I see is pixelated white areas for the pool surface, pond water’s still blue. I use Graphic Rules Maker and ran through it again to see if it helped, but so far no luck. Any ideas?
Hello! Well, for a start, Better Nightlife includes only neighborhood water part of the Voeille’s mod as stated in the release post (because it only conflicts with the hood water as it shares the same Maxis shader with night lights). So basically, if you want to use Voeille’s mod for lot mode ponds, you still need to drop ‘the pond file’ from the original Voeille’s mod into your Downloads folder. What else could cause described issue? I don’t know really.

Is there any way to make a map grass texture exactly the same in batch view? For when I enter the lot the mountains are completely green, and the incredible view of the map ends up getting ugly on the lot :c
Hello there, nonnie. The day when we will discover the way to get cliffs and hood decals show in lot mode will be the greatest day in TS2 history. But that’s like teleportation in real life. I think the way to teleport things around the globe will be discovered much sooner than the possibility to make lot skirt appearance any better.

Hello! I need help I remember you (i think it was you) once wrote a quick tutorial on how to get rid of sandy shores on neighborhood view by editing in some numbers. Can you by any means link that tutorial?
Hello! Yep. Here it is!

Hi Criquette! Thank you for all your wonderful creations :) do you have any idea when the road and terrain default will be ready?
Hi anon! Oh, I’m hoping that in comparison to the time this DR is in making, it will be quite soon. I still need to finish some missing elements and after that I’ll start to bringing all the components together. So I’m hoping to get this released by the end of June? I hope? Depends on the real life unfortunately because last few months I got this pretty harsh.
And that’s pretty much all the asks I have so far. I’ll not be posting any often for the next few months, but I will try to use any possibility to finish this Terrain & Road DR. Take care everybody and happy simming!
I’m definitely happy with white cliffs DR + light grey pebble beach. I’m pretty much happy with every variation actually! I might tweak brown pebble beach a little bit more (maybe it’s just too brown).
Some mixed replies today. These goes for Anons asking about ‘Rural Charm T&RDR’ mostly and few comment replies for @loch-pearl, @pensblr, @immerso-sims, @mysimmylicioussims, @alexbgd, @doowydoog, @driftsatellite and @badchriss. Let’s go!

Can I move to any of your neighborhoods, please?..
Oh, you’re more than welcome! ^__^ I actually would love to move somewhere over there myself, though. I always imagine my hoods very silent and peaceful. Soaked in nature. Very few people or no people at all. Like a small town or village in low tourist season far from mainstream routes.
@pensblr said:
Looks fantastic! Glad you're getting to enjoy the game a bit before getting back to real life things.
Thanks! Yes, it’s always good for me to get some hood decorating once in a while.
@immerso-sims said:
You know, your attention to detail always amazes me. Everything looks very real. :)
Oh, thanks ^__^’ neighborhood mode is my favourite in TS2. I can’t stop adding details because one bigger detail gets me to a dozen of smaller ones, etc. I always think about how this place would look if it was real. Something like that.
@mysimmylicioussims said:
This looks absolutely amazing
Oh, thank you! Long time since the last talk! I hope you’re doing fine :D
I hope you guys don’t mind if I reply these two together ^__^’

I wish you would upload this hood. I could never create something this beautiful. You need to do us a favor and upload it with all the fixings! :DD
And @badchriss said:
Dude,you really need to make a bunch of hoods in your unique and breathtaking style and upload them some time.Your work is pure perfection,keep up the amazing work.
Oh, the main issue on this subject, guys, is that while I’m working on the hood that might be released, I always come up with something that is definitely a must, and start working on it, and than it turns out that the hood I’ve worked on needs a total remake >.< But yeah, since I’ve done mostly everything I’ve had in mind that affects global things like night lighting textures, road defaults and some fixes, I would definitely create and release some random, not too customized (i.e. using just hood decos I’ve already released and will be releasing in the closest feature) hood. I’d really like to do that!

hey criquette! this may be out of your purview but i have an issue with the modifyneighborhoodterrain cheat where often the level function doesn't work; pressing \ does nothing. it works SOMETIMES, but usually not, and seems to be completely random as to whether it does or doesn't. i know you use the cheat a fair amount so i'm wondering if 1. this has ever happened to you and 2. you have any idea what might be causing it? im at a loss.
ps from modifyneighborhoodterrain anon: THANK YOU for all your hard work and the beautiful cc you create! you make my neighborhoods so beautiful <3
Hey Anon! Thanks for the kind words ^__^
Seriously, this is quite weird issue you have with that tool. I’ve never experienced something like that. And yes, I use this cheat when I need to add a narrow canal to the hood or improve the landscape a bit. I got used to the way it works, but I wouldn’t say that it fails on me once in a while. Maybe you level the terrain starting from the wrong corner? Because it levels the ground to the height of the point you’ve started selecting the area from.
Anonymous said:
This is random but do you think it's possible to make the in game snapshot cam better, like even with it ticked to high quality and size it compresses and gets grainy and weird. Do you think somehow modders would be able to upgrade it?
Hey there! I definitely would recommend to use third party snapshot software available out there as I do myself and most simmers do. I think nobody would spend their time and effort on modding stuff like this. I can’t even remember the hot keys for in-game camera ^__^

Hello! Just want to say that your roads are absolutely wonderful however i'm having a slight problem with the sidewalk. It might be because I have a shaky hand but I cant seem to get them to line up properly (even with true grid on) and it looks like a mess in lot view, which is a shame as the sidewalk compliments the road so well! I could be doing something wrong but if not, are you planning to release a version with the sidewalk integrated? Keep up the amazing work!!!
Hello there Anon! Yes, I think releasing a version with integrated sidewalks is possible at some point in the future, but it would take quite some time I’m afraid. As for the sidewalk pieces placing, yes, I’m totally in agreement with you because it’s very hard to get this look okay especially when combined with real Maxis neigborhood road. I have one small hint though, not sure if it would help and may be you’re doing it that way already, but if you use True Grid, try to stick outer side of the sidewalk along with tile border as precise as possible, because it’s impossible to rely on the roadside border of neighborhood road since its levitation and what looks okay in the current view angle, would look like a disaster in another view angle or lot mode.

Hi Criquette! I just wanted to ask something real quick about your Rural Charm T&RDR. So I download the road overlays but they aren't showing up in Decorative>Miscellaneous? Any clue on to why that is? I really love your road textures, but this is really throwing me from them... Thank you in advance! Keep up the amazing work! You are a blessing to the cc community!!
Oh, thank you Anon!
And I’m really confused by this issue.
I’ve just checked in my game to make sure I’ve mentioned the menu section correctly and it’s totally there. What platform are you on (Mac/Win)?
Also, I’ve finally updated all 17 bridges. Two of them (3 and 5 tiles long, humpbacked) were replaced by brand new ones. One of them is an adaption of Thyme’s Borage bridge (stone one).
I still need to lit up some structures of longest bridges in the set, but I hope I’ll manage to do this pretty soon.
P.s. please don’t mind clipping water reflection issues. Just a mac version thing.
And also I’d like to thank everyone for likes and comments! Now I need to check my inbox :Ъ
