In my post-canon idea of star trek Enterprise, Trip is working in Florida to rebuild the land, rebuild housing and infrastructure, and perhaps work with the global government(s) (yes, I've forgotten the government situation in Ent) to create some kind of defense network in case something like that were to happen again. A, he survived TATV with significant scarring and he's blind in one eye. B, Elizabeth (his and T'Pol's daughter) survived (yes I'm always here for handwavy science. Bullshit that Phlox or anyone else couldn't save her.) and Trip and T'Pol C, love each other, D, are best friends, and E, are platonic as fuck. I think their bond can read platonic especially if we take away the stress of the xindi arc and T'Pol's Trellium-D and mindmelding issues. I think their bond persists but it's not inherently romantic and they are able to raise Elizabeth better through this kind of friendship. Yes, I had attempted to write a post-canon longfic with a Shrancher main arc, but that's just not going to happen. But I feel strongly about this idea, so here y'all are.

Warm up doodle - T'Pol and Tuvok, Love.

I enjoy love not being an exception to Vulcan non-emotion because Humans see it as so vital and wholly good. Love is, I guess you could say, seen as THE emotion for Humanity. To love is seen as what it means to be Human. There is something interesting about Love when compared to all other emotions...it is seen as the most crucial. A person can theoretically live without feeling joy, sorrow, anger, jealousy etc but if they cannot love they are seen as inhuman. In this way 'love' becomes a shortcut to 'Humanity'. EX: If a robot can love someone, they can be Human. I understand why Vulcans not loving others is not really explored. It's surprisingly difficult to write but I like that, it really makes them feel like aliens. Tuvok caring deeply for his family, thinking of them all the time and being there for them and missing them, but NOT loving them - is interesting. Vulcans strive not to feel emotions and thus strive not to love others. To a Human, this sounds frightening and evil, antithetical to what we conceptualize as a "good" person/society. Yet Vulcan society as we know it is rooted in its opposition to things like war and conflict and harm. They managed to build a better world just like Earth did but without love. It's interesting!

okay so a post talking about how tos sexualizes men just as much as it sexualizes women had me thinking...

they STOPPED doing that in the following series. I think the only series that comes even close is Enterprise.

I guess this is why T'Pol wearing that outfit doesn't bother me that much.

I also think that Vulcans don't really care about tight/revealing clothing. Like. it's not a thing for them. Its okay for female/feminine-presenting Vulcans to wear such clothing and have it NOT be sexual thing. like. its just casual. its just there. not a big deal. its like. yeah. she's a woman. so what? she can wear whatever she wants and it doesn't mean anything, or it DOES mean something and that's OKAY.
