namkiko held her head, fingertips brushing her bruised porcelain skin. a soft touch wiping away a small stream of blood from a scratch near her jawline. konoha sunlight streamed through breaks in the trees, shadows dancing as leaves rustled with the breeze. Tenten always overwhelmed her; namkiko appreciated the help in training but it frequently discouraged her to be outmatched. How could she not be – TenTen was tenacious & ( quite frankly ) intimidating.
even when she had a good few inches of height on TenTen, she always felt herself overwhelmed by the kunoichi & understandably so. sweat dampened her clothing & it stuck unbearably to her pale skin, lips parted as she breathed out heavily; gasping for a bit of hair that was swamped with humidity to thicken the tension in her.
a smile managed to make it’s way on her face, she smeared the crimson liquid across her face to wipe away the sticky feeling of sweat that clung to her face. ❝I’m okay, TenTen, don’t worry,❞ a breathy laugh sputtered from her as she coughed into her hand. ❝I was trained as a medical ninja, so injuries are not something I stay concerned about.❞
Worry still shone on her face as Tenten examined her partner. Her last jutsu had been a bit experimental, heavily-loaded with senbons tied together by chakra strings. It could be considered A-Rank, lethal if combined with poison, and definitely overwhelming for a shinobi with poorer sense of direction and quick-thinking. When Namkiko’s response didn’t come in less than two seconds, Tenten immediately summoned back all of the needles, guilt swirling inside her.
“That’s a relief,” She sighed, fingers automatically re-sealing the weapons, “I’d be careful if I were you, though. You lost quite a bit of chakra.”
Namkiko was capable, that was clear, but it seemed to Tenten her attention was always too divided, instead of focused on the defense and counter-attack at hand. Then again, it had been mean to use her newest jutsu on her. She still felt bad.
“Here,” Tenten threw a water bottle at her, painting as well. “It wasn’t a bad fight- Look, I’m almost as sweaty as you!” She smiled. “You’ve improved.”
