Overdue // Stones and Slings
Gargoyles were naturally overprotective creatures.
Goliath had almost forgotten how much so until his sons and mentor came back into his life, and suddenly every stranger on the street was a threat he and his daughters needed to be defended from. It wasn’t their fault; their lives had been hard and fraught with danger and betrayal. One bad night had cost them their home, their family, their lives- hell, even their own time had been taken from them.
They were a protective bunch on the best of days. So Goliath didn’t blame Mateo for still being a little uncomfortable around them all.
Goliath himself hadn’t been doing the best at repairing their relationship since that whole breakup-then-Halloween debacle, even though he no longer held any ill-will towards the boy. In fact, he was more than proud of the young sorcerer! He’d stepped up magnificently during Elena’s pregnancy, and Goliath knew she was only able to be so happy about the incoming twins (twins!!!!) because her boyfriend was right at her side. Goliath couldn’t be prouder of them both.
It was high time he told Mateo that.
Classes were done for the day, and once he had made sure that Maru was happily settled in the uni’s library and had his phone on him, Goliath made his way out into town. The pet shop was easy enough to find, and Goliath took a deep breath before heading inside. Probably not the best idea to approach him in a place where most of the animals would be made skittish by his appearance, but he didn’t want his sons underfoot and glaring at Mateo and negating the whole point of this conversation. He’d talked to them about their behavior towards Mateo and Ollie but it was... slow going, getting them to relax.
Goliath stepped inside, waving with a smile towards Naomi and Mateo’s friend Greg before searching out for the young Avaloran. He was behind the desk, working on something on the computer, and Goliath approached carefully. He knocked gently on the desk twice, giving Mateo a smile. “Hello Mateo,” he said warmly.
