“Come on,” he yelled, tossing a glance over his shoulder towards his friend and temporary opponent. “The loser has to buy sodas!” This was their usual routine and the wager was always the same. Sometimes he lost, other times he won, but no matter what they’ll end up having their favourite orange sodas sitting by the river.
Sucking in a breath of fresh air, Gale bid his feet to move a little faster to get himself up the hill. Then, he let go of the pedals and leaned back in his seat, laughing as gravity guided him down the well worn grass path towards the river. Recklessly speedy - a potential disastrous if he didn’t squeeze the brakes at just the right time. Still, that was the point, right? The exhilaration. The racing of his heart and the loudness of its thumps against his ears.

“I win,” he declared with a hint of smugness once they reached the unofficial finish line, raising his hands up in the air. His bike creaked when he came to his abrupt halt earlier - protesting in its old age. Gale knew he should have been more respectable, for this bike was one as old as his father. He petted it gently in apology, even though he knew it didn’t have a soul like the creatures of this world. “I think it is time for a new bicycle, but I’ve been using this one since I was a teenager.” He whined at Kiha. “Do you think I can take it to the repair shop just one more time?”
