[[I got bored so I wrote a (non-canon) thing.]]
"Well, child, have you packed your things?"
Handmaid just stares up at the Lord, his words hardly registering in her mind. They echoed in her ears, almost. It was finally the day, her eighteenth birthday, and the day she starts her duties as a demoness. No. It came to quickly. She could've sworn she had months left of being seventeen...
"Handmaid, please answer your master when you're being spoken to."
Edgar's agitated voice manages to break through her trance, coupled with a tightened grip on her wrist. She blinks a few times and looks up to English, nodding her head slowly. All packed up. All of her clothes, her laptop, and a few small trinkets she'd gained over the years.
"Excellent. Don't fret now, there is nothing to be afraid of."
The flames atop his head dance as he holds his hand out to her. Edgar releases her wrist and gives her a gentle nudge forward. She hesitates for a long moment, just staring up at her new master, before lifting her hand and placing it over his. The gloved fingers close around her dainty ones.
"Are you sure you have all of your things? We won't be coming back."
He's being so chipper. Of course, who wouldn't be on the day they gain a servant? She gently grips the handle of her suitcase, nibbling at her lower lip. There's another nudge at her back as she becomes hesitant. She swallows hard and gives the Lord a short nod. Everything that matters to her, which isn't much, is packed away in that suitcase, along with the carry on hanging from her shoulder.
"Excellent. Then we'll take our leave. Would you like to thank your guardian first?"
Handmaid shakes her head slowly. Edgar gives a short sigh behind her. English simply shrugs.
"Very well. Hold on tight, now."
Handmaid closes her eyes as the flashing energy she'd grown accustomed to engulfed them both, and the prison she'd been locked away in for years disappears behind her...
Death: This time for sure
You just have to do it. You have to talk to him about this. Its not fair to either of you if you continue in this way, and honestly, you're far too stung out from the events of the past few days to handle any more unneeded stress.
No, that's not right. That's not fair either.
You sit down and hold your cup with shaky hands, trying to think. There's really only one question you have to ask yourself. Do you really love him? There's a part of you that says yes. It screams and shouts and stomps its feet. How dare you suggest that you might not be in love with him. But another part of you, perhaps even a stronger part, calmly rebuttals that if you really did love him, you wouldn't be getting so upset over the suggestion that you don't, and that maybe its time to rethink this.
Sleuth watches you for a moment and softly headbutts your arm, mewing. You turn and pet her, setting down your cup without taking a drink. "love is hard, sleuth...its hard and i think...i didnt understand until just now..."
Oh.
It seems I have company.
I love you.
At first you were hesitant to get back online after everything that happened, but you decided that its the best way to keep in touch with your friends, and really the only company you have outside of Sleuth -- not that she isnt a total card.
However, when you do, you almost instantly regret it. Thats not to say that you're displeased to see the message, in fact, it stirs many different feelings in you. Your last meeting was cut rather short, and the things you were meant to discuss...well, they went un-discussed.
It hurts. You dont know what to say, so you type the only thing you can think of.
i...love you too...
