The dinner function was meant to celebrate the anniversary of this planet, Caeniia’s independence. Rikard knew it was actually meant to commemorate its relatively peaceful takeover by the Order.
He’d joined because his father, the commandant had been invited. The Arkanis academy’s reach included this particular planet, it was no surprise the commandant was here to personally oversee the enlistment of Caeniia’s children into one of his programs. And to find himself invited to such a function.
Pleasantries aside, Rikard had grown bored. Smart enough to hide his internal feelings well, he had made an excuse to talk to a “colleague” or two, though there was no one here he knew. The commandant too caught up, himself, to care, allowed him his leave.
Once Rikard had scoped out a secluded spot outside to sit and hide away, he’d been able to slip a few drinks. Onto his second he noticed he wasn’t exactly alone. Scowling into the bush, he warned, attempting to intimidate. “Who ‘vr you are.. I’ll- I’ll make certain you receive proper punishment if you come nearer.”
