You were all gathered in New York City. It was at Rami’s apartment. Gwilym was here with his now fiancée and Lucy was obviously present as well, since she and Rami were now a couple. Joe, as the real New Yorker he was, was always around, even if he was still (happily for now) single. And eventually, there you were as well, with your boyfriend, Ben.
--------------------------
Rami, Joe, Ben, Gwilym and Lucy had met on the shooting of the movie Bohemian Rhapsody, about lead singer Freddie Mercury and the legendary band Queen. Soon enough, they all became very good friends. Almost a family, as they would say about the four members of the band in the very movie they were starring. Lucy and Rami, both supposedly to have a relationship during the filming, had quickly not pretended any more. Love had captured their hearts and very soon, a real kiss was exchanged, to everyone’s delight.
As for you, you had been friends with Joe since forever it had seemed. Very often, he had invited you on the set of the movie, and after many and many refusals, you had eventually agreed. Joe had not been filming for quite a while and he had been immensely proud he had been picked to portray the bass player of Queen, John Deacon, in the movie. He had been so insisting on you coming to see the set and meet his new family. You had made it a surprise. And many surprises had happened back then.
First of all, Joe had welcomed you with a cap on his head. You knew he had always been fond of Baseball, even directing a movie about it. But even according to you, who was quite sensitive to cold, the London weather did not require to be dressed like an Eskimo. You had taken the opportunity of a hug when you had just landed to take it off and what you had discovered had made you laugh for years, making your belly hurt. Joseph Francis Mazzello (the third) had had his hair permed. Just like John Deacon had in the 80s. Yet, the actor had had no clue it was going to last. For a very long time.
As the two of you had arrived on the filming set, you first had met Rami and Lucy, working together on their next scene. You had at once found the young couple very cute and the two of them had been very professional, despite the fact just like Joe, Lucy had been filming since she had been a very young girl.
You had then met Brian May and Gwilym Lee, working together as well. You had almost fainted as you had merely seen a young version of the guitarist before your eyes while an older version had been trying to show him how to handle properly his red special.
Last but not least, the best surprise of all during your first visit to the filming set. Joe had led you to met his now best friend, who was training on his drums with Roger Taylor. Ben was standing before the drums, and you had been very impressed to see that the musician was still very expertly moving his drumsticks, twisting them between his fingers, beating and breathing in rhythm. At the end of his little performance, the two actors and you had applauded and the drummer had stood up, had smiled and had given a little bow.
Then, the blonde young man had turned around and your breath had merely been taken away. The only thing you could remember had been his eyes. Ben’s eyes were green but even if you had seen many eyes in your life, never before had you seen such a color. They were like two gems in the middle of a perfect face. You had then glazed at the man’s features. And you had understood why he had been chosen to portray the drummer in this biopic. Still to this day, but also when he was young, Roger Taylor was considered to be a very handsome man.
Ben Hardy was nothing but pure beauty to you. At first sight, you had thought he was a little chubby, which was obviously not a problem at all. Yet, when he had shaken your hand, you had at once felt he was very strong and muscled. As he had been speaking a little, you had been watching his thin lips move, his smile widen as he had been animatedly talking about the movie with his partner. His cheeks were rosy and his smile was creating fine wrinkles at the corner of his eyes, wonderful eyes, making your heart beat a little faster.
After this first encounter with Ben, it had seemed Joe had had a plan in mind since forever. He had always been very glad to leave the two of you alone, pretending to have something important to do, giving the two of you time to get to know each other and very slowly, fall in love. You had been afraid at first. Because never in your life, despite the fact you had met other actors before as you had been very close friends with Joe, none of them had even been interested in you and the converse had also been true. But with Ben, it had been different. It had been almost natural. The conversation you had been having very quickly had become very random and your heart had broke a little when you had had to go back in the USA.
Yet, time had been strangely kind to you, allowing you to think mostly of work while you were away from him and his arms. Even if the two of you had not confessed your feelings for one another yet, Ben had always a sweet word for you, always making sure to send you a message, sometimes short, sometimes longer, to ask you about your day, to tell you about his. The sweetest messages of all were the one you were seeing right after switching off your alarm clock on your phone. A very short thought, making you smile without fail, making you start the day the best way it could be.
After promoting the movie, Joe had come back in the USA, and very quickly, Ben had followed. He had pretended he had wanted to remain close to his now best friend, but no one had been fooled about the situation. It had always been a pleasure for him to be with his pal, his ‘buddy’, as he would call him, but he had just wanted to be with you again.
Eventually and making Joe widely smirk, Ben had asked you on a real date, just the two of you. And then, he had become your boyfriend and you had become his girlfriend. Officially.
--------------------------
Rami and Lucy were standing together on the couch, smiling to each other, waiting for Joe to stop talking (and they were perfectly aware it could take a while). Eventually, they exchanged glances and Rami cleared his throat, taking the opportunity of Joe sipping his drink.
“Well, now I’ve got the floor....”, he started to say, winking at Joe, “Lu and I have a great announcement to make. We are now engaged.”, he smiled as Lucy was showing her hand with a very elegant ring with a very thin diamant. It fitted her perfectly. She was an elegant and delicate woman and even if the ring was shinning, her face was absolutely beaming.
Everyone stood up and congratulated the now engaged couple. You looked at Joe, a little worried he was still single, but his smile was not fake. He really loved both Lucy and Rami and he could not be happier for them. Even if all of you were now friends, it was important for you to see your best friend was alright. You were aware Joe’s loving life had not been easy, but he had turned the page it seemed. And you could not feel prouder of him.
Lucy then asked you and Gwilym’s fiancée to be her maids of honor. You both exchanged glances but agreed at once. The three of you hugged, looking forwards to this beautiful day, when Rami and Lucy would become husband and wife. This was really exciting.
The following months then, you were juggling between your work, your daily duties, your responsibilities, your friends, your boyfriend and the wedding preparations. Even if this was exhausting, it was worth it. Lucy and Rami had not planned a very fancy wedding. They wanted only family and very close friends. They wanted a cosy atmosphere, a romantic moment they would share with the people they considered to be their family, even if they were not blood-related.
Very quickly, even more quickly than you had expected it, the big day arrived. But all was fine since everything was ready. The church ceremony had been very nice and conventional. The caterer was ready in the reception hall that had been decorated for the occasion. All was very beautiful. The couple had chosen pastel colors, refusing to make it a girly or a boyish style.
The bride was wearing a wonderful white dress, but again, Lucy had not wanted something too fancy. The dress was a reflection of her personality, simple and elegant. She had a sophisticated bun and some sort of flower crown in her hair. Rami was wearing a classical tuxedo, but he was just beaming. He could have been wearing a tracksuit, his smile would have been as wide. He was now married to Lucy, the love of his life as he had been singing it in the movie Bohemian Rhapsody.
Joe, Gwilym and Ben were also best men, thus also wearing matching tuxedos. All were absolutely gorgeous, but everyone had to compliment Joe a little more, as he had been giving slight hints of some kind of contest he was definitely determinate to win.
The three maids of honor, thus including you, were wearing pastel dresses, made out of silk it seemed because the fabric was certainly the softest you had ever touched. To match the bride's hair, you were also wearing a white flower in your hair.
Yes, the wedding preparations had been very tiring but it was all almost perfect. The caterer's food was very good and the music was mostly composed of Queen’s hits, as a nod to the cast of the movie. Joe was filming a lot, making sure these wonderful moments would remain forever.
Before dancing with her dad, Lucy proposed to throw her bouquet to the crowd. It was not something you were particularly enjoying, as you had seen many videos and had even seen some live scenes of women almost fighting to get it. Yet, to please the bride, you smiled and gathered with the others, waiting for Lucy to turn and throw it, but not really willing to catch her beautiful bouquet.
However, she turned back towards you and the other women. She smiled and winked at Rami, who nodded. You frowned a little. You had helped her plan this very day, making sure not to neglect a single detail. But you had no clue of what was happening. She slowly stepped towards the little group, a smile still upon her painted lips.
She stopped in front of you and handed you her bouquet. This time, you raised your eyebrow. What was happening? Why was she giving it to you? It was not the tradition. You were confused and puzzled.
“It’s up to you now.”, she said, her sweet smile reassuring you.
You looked around and you saw Joe smiling as well, like an idiot in his very case. With his eyes, he indicated you to turn around. You did and looked down, as Ben was on one knee. He was holding a jewelry box with a very delicate ring inside. Your eyes widened and your heart began to beat even faster.
“Y/N Y/L/N. Every day since I’ve met you has been nothing but pure happiness. Today, I’ve seen two of my closest friends get married for the best and the worse. And I could not be happier for them. But this is also what I want for us. Wake up every morning next to you, smiling because I know I could not wish for more in life than having my wife by my sides. Y/N Y/L/N, will you marry me?”, he said, his voice never trembling.
“Oh my god !! Ben, what? I mean....”, you began to say, one hand holding the bouquet and the other hand covering your mouth.
“Say yes, the SD card is almost full !!”, you heard Joe joke behind his phone. Of course. It had been his idea and Ben and him had planned it all together, making sure Lucy would be in the know. You looked at Joe, saying no with your face. But you looked back at Ben and helped him back on his feet.
“I would be honored to become Mrs Jones.”, you replied, kissing him, as everyone applauded.
