Does this Beta Pokemon of the Day look familiar to you?

Shellder who bite onto Slowpoke evolve to become one with it, but recently we've seen this evolution known as Disturban on its own! I wonder what happened to its Slowpoke...

WHOA, nice.  Slowbro/Slowking’s parasitic Shellder as its own Pokemon is a concept I think a lot of people want.  The closest we’ll ever get might just be Mega Slowbro, which is fine I guess.  But we were all thinking it, and now we know Game Freak was thinking it too.  Apparently Taaban wasn’t set up as an evolution for the Slowpoke OR Shellder lines, but since this was still the beta demo, maybe there had been plans to add that evolutionary connection later.  The beta demo didn’t apparently have friendship evolutions, so clearly some of the systems got reworked.  Maybe Taaban got the cut at that point.
