"OUR SONGS ARE ALL ABOUT PEOPLE WE HATE, PEOPLE WITH ATTITUDES."
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on a promo record poster for the 53 song compilation album "Nothing Will Stand in Our Way" by Detroit hardcore punk band NEGATIVE APPROACH. The album was released on both CD and LP media formats in 2011 under the Taang! label.
Jimmy/FORCED EXPOSURE: "What motivates you to write a song?" Opie: "Our songs are all about people we hate, people with attitudes." John Brannon: "It's not a political thing, it's like..." Opie: "We don't write nothing about politics." John: "I just sing about shit I hate, something that really makes me mad. Opie: "People's attitudes, man, like our new song is about two faced people. It's like "wow, you guys are so cool" and then the next minute they'll be talking behind your back, "oh, they're just a bunch of dicks," y'know? We just write songs about people's attitudes."
Katie/FORCED EXPOSURE: "So where do you see this taking you in the next year?" John: "People like the record in our area but it's going to be interesting to see how they like it in other places. They might hate it or they might like it. You can't really tell until you get reviewed and shit. People who we sent out tapes to liked it so y'know we'll just take it from there and see what happens."
Jimmy/FORCED EXPOSURE: "Do you want to become a national touring band?" John: "I just want to be able to go out and play and fucking just break even y'know, enough money to eat." Graham: "As long as we have fun."
Katie: "Do you have fun?" All: "Yeah." Graham: "Yeah, it's great to play totally different places in front of totally different crowds."

"WE'RE NOT GONNA SELL OUT, WE'RE GONNA BURN OUT." -- WELCOME TO 1984.
PIC INFO: Spotlight on the "Sold Out" 7" vinyl single by Boston hardcore punk band GANGGREEN, and released under the Taang! Records label as TAANG 1! in 1984. This was the second pressing on green vinyl and with different front cover sleeve art, only 1000 were ever pressed.
Featuring Chris Doherty: Guitar/vocals, Mike Dean: drums, and Bill Manley: Bass guitar.
TRACKLIST:
A: "Sold Out"
B1: "Terrorize"
B2: "Taang Dub"
BONUS: "TAANG! Records was born with the release of “Sold Out” by Gang Green in March ‘84. The record took off, word got out all over the world. The label was on its way. As for Gang Green: They reformed for the release of “Sold Out” (TAANG! #1) but shortly thereafter Bill decided not to play music anymore and the band played their last show with the Minutemen at The Channelin Boston. Doherty passed out face first on the floor due to a long day of drinking with Dicky B. at a nearby bar."

IF YOU EVER DECIDE TO KILL FOR SATAN, THEN, LET THIS ALBUM PROVIDE THE SOUNDTRACK.
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on Boston DOOM metal band, UPSIDEDOWN CROSS and their self-titled debut LP, released in 1991 under the Taang! label. J Mascis (ex-DEEP WOUND, DINOSAUR JR.) provided drumming on the album.
"The UPSIDE DOWN CROSS record is one of my favorite records I’ve ever played on. I was flirting with real punk rock. Those guys were serious degenerates — not like anyone I’d ever met. I’d previously played a gig with Gerard and G.G. ALLIN, which was a similar experience but also not so great. It seemed good in theory, but when you’re on stage and he’s shitting… it’s just not that pretty. Maybe I’m not as punk as I thought I was. But with UPSIDEDOWN CROSS, I just went there and recorded and didn’t hang out with the guys as much, so it was a great experience. I loved the record too."
