VDEM Implements Virtual Tabletop Exercise (VTTX) Program
Over the past several years, through our training and exercise Improvement planning workshop process, we have received input and requests from localities who wished to be able to conduct and/or participate in smaller scale, emergency operations center (EOC) centric exercises. Therefore, in response to those requests, VDEM has implemented a Virtual Tabletop Exercise (VTTX) program.
The VTTX program will provide localities with the ability to participate in exercises on a quarterly basis to facilitate interaction within local EOCs, examine aspects of the local emergency operations plans and provide an opportunity to access the WebEOC training server to increase that skill set and keep log in information up to date.
There will be four different scenarios localities can participate in over the next year. For these exercises, local EOC teams can participate virtually from their facility, board room or any place with computer and projector access. There will be multiple opportunities to participate in each exercise and each scenario will be offered three times per quarter. Specific site requirements and registration details can be accessed at www.VirginiaVigilance.org.
The next opportunity to exercise is scheduled for Nov. 19.
