Oo-de-lally, I finally got around to drawing my Jedi OC for that thing I talked about a looong time ago~ echo echo echo
Finalized design for Merrenda Tesso, Jedi General attached to the Tackle Box Squad.
(All TB-related stuff here, just so we can keep track of things)
Some Notes:
Despite having drawn Merrenda before, I have no idea why it took me so long to settle on how she looks. Every time I have, I wasn't satisfied (?) with the design?? Which meant overhauling everything because of said dissatisfaction.
As much as I want her to have her own style existing within the Jedi Order, she still wears elements of the more traditional/natural/basic Jedi wardrobe. Mirialan culture is like the second layer to it—like, she's not steeped in it too deeply or else we'd have a completely different outfit to draw. They're the flourishes set to distinguish, not overtake. (ALSO I forgot to draw her outer robe lol)
I really thought the colors I used were fine, but every time they shift to a different screen/monitor...it was already hard enough coloring green skin let alone other color combinations that aren't within normal flesh tones
Coloring is the bane of my existence and will continue to be so no matter what
NOW to revamp the clones why did I make so many of them bububuu
Haven't drawn these guys for a while. Merrenda in a wedding dress and Sinker working at Lowes in the garden area of a local home improvement center. These are two completely separate things.
I haven't even tried drawing the rest of Tackle Box, come on MK, when we getting back to them
When in doubt, draw a Robe à la Polonaise. A very simplified robe but a robe no less! She also lost a garter tie. :(
And sure, she can tie the garter tie herself, but I needed an excuse to set this up. Thankfully it's just a historical costuming hobby and not a real scandal about to blow up across an 18th Century gossip network. Unless everyone is LARPing and it all goes sidesways from there
Medical Nap. Commissioned by @soliamurr which included her Clone Shank (middle), my medic clone Gaff (left), and the 501st’s own Kix. I also did two versions because what is color balancing and why am I having trouble with it? It’s a subtle thing, though.
OH HELLO CLONES, I HAvE NOT SEEN YOU IN A WHILE, YES? Lots of digital editing went into these, but getting the original lines down on the page was wonderful. It wasn't fun feeling out of whack.
Anyhoo -- from the top row down:
Sketch and Shank hanging out at 79s (with weird dialog, what gives);
a serious-faced Swivel; Shank and Tacklebox Medic Gaff going over other trooper medical records;
Line yelling at someone;
Lure (who looks like he's climbing into a trashcan-- that's a tank. I tried.) talking/questioning a nonchalant/'I wash my hands of this' Sinker;
Shank (SANS HELMET WHERE IS YOUR HELMET) trying to drag an injured brother off of an active battlefield;
and a B-1 Battledroid. (First time I drew one!)
Another note to self: MK, when drawing original clones, make sure to draw more of your own clones. You drew more Shank round for some reason (which would be fine with @imjz but yeah). Maybe just think of more scenarios with your characters. Okay, cool, go team, break!
HERE WE GO, here is the thing about the Clone OCs @nevawaveharp asked for and I said I'd get to. Between distractions, obviously. THAT's why it has taken so long just to sit down and write this.
SO who do I have here...oh yeah, I have like. Ten of 'em. :| Sadly, only one of them has been fleshed out because he was created prior to the rest of the gang.
That number one spot goes to SKETCH. Since we all know where the clones came from and because he was used in RP, his background was fairly simple: he was bred, trained, and became not-so-shiny during one of those battles out there in the galaxy before officially joining the ranks of the 212th. (I just...I may have written it to the tune of "Yo Home to Bel-Air." >_>;)
Sketch is probably one of many Sketches found among the clone groups, but he's aptly named due to all of the decal dabbling and sketches he's able to churn out whenever he's not on duty or between breaks in the warfront. He may have also been called 'Scribbles' at one point.
He's the quiet type, pretty chill with everyone but doesn't say much unless he needs to, which brings about some casual joking from his peers about him meeting his word quota for the month. But for some odd reason, he gets in trouble a lot? Or trouble has a way of finding him. Either or, it's still him and trouble. He can also get some good sniper shots in whenever it's needed. That's useful. I also figured he doesn't like taking on big responsibilities like leading small squads, but I think he was supposed to be promoted because we lacked Player Character clones in-game. HYPOTHETICALLY, he would have been promoted to Corporal or Sergeant or something?? I don't know how these things work, they use army and navy and that gets really confusing.
ANYWAY he's still there somewhere. I still have collaborative thoughts of what happened to him later on. I mean, there's about two whole options to choose from here, come on.
AND THEN THERE ARE THOSE NERDS CALLED TACKLE BOX SQUADRON.
WHICH I WILL TALK ABOUT UNDER A CUT because WOW WORDS.
Wait, Squadron? Crew? Eh, whatev -- THOSE GUYS.
Because I am insane, I put nine of them on a team because nine is a good, round number. (No it isn't)
Initially, I sort of wanted to have a bunch of clones named after fishing gear and techniques. I don't think it's too far of a stretch to have them exposed to fishing. (Another tangent related to this was speculation that one of the older clones could have taught the younger cadets about it whenever they got back from battle, but that's a different story idea for another time.)
The other initial idea I had for the group was something even dumber...because I toyed with the idea of basing it off of those otome games where the MC is a brand spankin' new Jedi Knight/General put in charge of all of them. ANd it just...went downhill from there...
LET'S JUST SAY THAT WAS TERRIBLE AND NEVER MENTION IT AGAIN;;;
I did have some brief descriptions about the guys, though, but since everything's still in the loosely-planned stage, THINGS CAN CHANGE. (???)

All right, so we got RIG who is the laid-back leader of this motley crew of clones, kind of like the mentor/big brother type but also comes up with ridiculous strategies whenever the opportunity arises. 'Unorthodox' is a word for it. It's like he shouldn't be the leader of the group, but he is? He just doesn't fit the role and nobody can really do anything to change that because hey, he knows what to do and his plans are actually pretty good once you get pass the crazy part, we can go with this.
SINKER is like his McSRSBrickface Right-Hand Man (I think) or maybe more like the one who does the heavy lifting and tech talk (whaaat). Tank Tech. TANK TECH. He also makes sure everyone's cared for, which is a pretty weird combination, what was I thinking I think I just liked the idea of the Big Guy acting as the Mother Hen, I dunno
JIGG is...what did I even put down for him-- I wrote 'distraction.' What does that even mean. He's another quiet, more soft-spoken and awkward type who is more comfortable wearing his helmet on at all times because half of his face is covered in little flower patterns. He has a lot of development happening for him though because the initial personality I set up for him now has me thinking it's all a pendulum effect: he's okay when he first starts, then the tattoo thing comes up, and then he works his way out of it with the help of his bros and Jedi General.
SWIVEL is the gunnery specialist and the dude who hangs out with Jigg most of the time. He's also the complete opposite of the poor guy: sort of on the loud side, annoyingly optimistic (yet still realistic about things), offers some of the snark and joking that happens around the camp. Of course, that's mostly his outer shell. Once you get past that, he's a lot more faceted. I guess it's safe to say he'll surprise you when you least expect it.
LURE, who seems to fit the Tech type more than anyone else, is more concentrated on the info gathering aspect of it than the generalized stuff. He's also the sniper. :D He tends to be the realistic, level-headed one who can sort of prattle on about stuff during briefings non-stop until someone (or all of his teammates) pretend to fall asleep on him. Logic seems to be a big deal for him, but I may need to think more about what makes him tick. (I did write 'nerd' on his notes, that's mean)
GAFF is the team medic and it seems I wrote him as more of a "Try not to bleed all over the floor" type of medic than a "Good job almost dying out there today" type of medic. If there's any difference between the two?? He keeps a cool head in heated situations, acts when he has to act, caustic at times but usually very honest with everyone he speaks with. It only makes sense that he butts heads with other people when they don't want to hear the bad news as bad news. But yeah, I apparently had 'tsun' as a descriptor and I'm sort of hating myself for writing that in LOL I COULDN'T THINK OF ANOTHER WORD FOR IT
TRAWL is, in every way, the very image of what a clone trooper is bred and trained to be. He's the assigned Military Adviser for the Tackle Box crew. Freaking professional among the ragtag riffraff, it's like he shouldn't even be there at all. But he's stuck and was in danger of being completely blah, so I added in the strange sense of humor thing to help balance him out. (Oh gosh, why am I thinking about that one Painting teacher I had in uni OH NO)
HOOK is also a Military Advisor assigned to the group, but he's a lot more relaxed and lenient than Trawl is in his position. He and Trawl also seem to double as Babysitters while popcorn.gif'ing at TB antics. Aside from bothering Trawl, I also have him hang with Swivel and Jigg because it seems like a natural fit.
And LINE is the most fresh-faced out of all of them, sent in as a messenger and scout from the main GAR body to keep tabs and stuff or something to that extent. Although he's exposed to the war effort, he still has this naivete about him and wants to do his job right. Eager to please and succeed, but he doesn't pick up on subtle cues very well. Any of these traits may or may not be withdrawn from him the longer he sticks with the group, but he can also learn the ropes of military advisory/popcorn.gif'ing as he goes? If it's possible.

Briefly going back to the whole otome aspect, the first five were the main clones you could romance while the others were the non-datable NPCs but ANYWAY that's everything I got! For now!
