🔸 🔹 🔸 🔹 🔸 🔹 🔸 🔹 🔸 🔹 🔸 🔹 🔸 🔹 🔸 🔹 🇬🇧 Tachara of Dario I, Persepolis, Iran. Persepolis was one of the 5 capitals of the Achaemenid Empire founded by Darius I in 518 BC. The city is located about 50 km north of the modern city of Shiraz in Fars Province, in Iran. Persepolis includes a dynastic, residential and official complex built on an artificial terrace at the foot of a mountain. This monumental complex includes the Tachara ("winter") Palace, namely the Palace of Darius I, whose construction begins under this sovereign, but was finished by his son and successor Xerxes I. The Tachara, unlike the other Persepolitan palaces, is oriented towards the south. It is constructed (on a rectangular plan, meauring 40 m X 30 m) of gray limestone and consists of a main hall with 12 columns, two smaller columned rooms on the north, a columned portico on the south, and several guard-rooms on either side. 🔸 🔹 🔸 🔹 🔸 🔹 🔸 🔹 🔸 🔹 🔸 🔹 🔸 🔹 🔸🔹 📸 Photo by @peregrinopelomundo 🔸 🔹 🔸 🔹 🔸 🔹 🔸 🔹 🔸 🔹 🔸 🔹 #iran #fars #shiraz #persepolis #persia #tachara #palaceofdarius #darius #antiqua_archeologia 👍 #archeology #archeologia #empire #archeo #arkeo #archeo #archeotravel #travel #travelling #architecture #archeol https://www.instagram.com/p/BuYGmkygIVk/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=ouorz8t4d800
