Riko could hear the loud beep of the machine connected to Takao but at the same she couldn't hear. She couldn't hear a damn thing, looking at the form in front of her, with the same damn smirk on his face and his eyes closed like he merely fell asleep. But when she reached out to touch him, to shake him, there was no response. Only the chill of a body without its heat. Takao wasn't there anymore. Her friend was long gone now.

And she couldn't even begin to cry. She wanted to. She begged to herself to allow the tears to come. But they refused. Instead, she felt empty, cold like the body her hand still touched. She could have been dreaming for all she knew. And as if mocking her and her still grief, the sun continued to shine outside of the window.

"At least finish your sentence you dumbass." Was all that she could say in the end.
