Detail of the Amduat papyrus of Tadimut. I think this does a good job of showing the bivalent nature of snakes in Egyptian mythology; there is everything from the ureai that guard the oars of the sky and the eye of Horus to a huge Apophis slashed up with knives.

Tadimut offers to the gods of the underworld on her Amduat papyrus.

I don’t know the identity of this papyrus (yet), but to me it looks like a mythological papyrus, which presents “vignettes” or illustrations of chapters of the Book of the Dead. So it’s probably from the Third Intermediate Period.

ETA much later: It’s one of the two Amduat papyri of Tadimut!
