Catching up with my #toontober! I did not get all four days but thats okay Im proud of what I did get down. 

The prompts were “Bug” “Sea Creature” and “Mythological Creature” So I doodled some of my own toons Toulouse, Skippy, and Hilda respectively!

Okay so I actually do want to try posting art again and I dont know I feel the safest posting it here. This has always been like a loosey goosey blog. Sorry it got a little inactive but lets see if I can try to start sharing some thoughts and doodles here.

This was just a warmup of Peanut but he actually has a few updates.

So I actually figured out his original name before he became Maestro Peanut. I’ll share that in another update though that goes more into his background.

Design wise there are two updates to his look. First is that he has a small lil nose. The reason for that change will actually be more clear with the update to his background. The second is that he has a buck tooth! Its something he detests and is super embarrassed about because he wants to look intimidating and it makes him look silly.

The All Seeing Caf-Eye

Oranhamme and Fairy travel to different worlds for inspiration. To help keep them cozy wherever they go they have their home and workplace that travels with them.

The Cafe is alive and can make some alterations to itself and even stand up and walk around, however it cannot speak. If it needs to communicate an emotion you can take a peak at any of the eye-windows as they are capable of conveying emotion. 

I made them see through so the details of the cafe are not hidden but you can see Oranhamme and Fairy at the front for size comparison as well as a few visitors in the table area. At the front the building serves as a lovely little bakery and cafe but in the back there is a secret door that stays locked until nightfall. For a few hours during night the door opens up to reveal a secret shop specializing in magic treats and concoctions run Fairy and Hamme. This shop does not take regular currency though. Instead the two dreamon beans are looking to barter their goods for things that are unique and special to the world their visiting. Usually something that Hamme can use for his own creative work or something Fairy can collect and keep. Just remember its up to the buyer to make sure that what they are purchasing is really what they want.

Now that I finished that starter I thought I’d share a little more about Walter? Walter is the angel of death tasked collecting the souls of the dead and guiding them to where they need to go. Hes never actually killed anyone and really doesnt like the thought of any death being caused by his own hand, hes just here to help the recently deceased. He has a very positive outlook on life and things in general despite having seen some horrific things over the course of forever. He purposefully tries to remain hopeful and finds the tiniest things to keep him going, like a really good sammich.  That wont stop him from complaining about his job, however most folks never would guess hes a reaper since he talks about his work like its a regular ol office job. He appreciates those who lend an ear to his ramblings and musings.

His boss and supervisor is a bit of a different story. Orzsebet is an angel tasked with keeping things going. They’re even more busy than Walter is as they have to keep an eye on e v e r y t h i n g. They often get on Walter’s case about him showing sympathy for the mortals he works with. Orzsebet often sees it as nothing more than a distraction. However, Walter always asserts that its his empathy that makes him best suited for the job. A heartless reaper would only make more of a mess. At the end of the day Orzsebet knows Walter is the best suited for the job and will let him do things  as he sees fit, even if the big ol wheel doesnt truly understand. They just dont have the time to really ‘get’ emotions and the like.

Some warm up sketches and thumbnails. Some of these were for fun others were me planning for this inkwell ball stuff. There may be a few lil spoilers in there for whats to come.

Just playing around with expressions and posing and thinking up some silly ideas for him to do as a toon. I imagine he can raise a lil sail when he wants to go faster in the water. Kind of like a last resort sorta deal.  Huey and Skippy are from two different isles but that doesnt stop them from visiting one another.

Neither of them are bosses more like residents who chill in the area and help out folks in need or perform special tasks.

I doodled this a few days ago because I was thinking about the heights of some of my toons and out of the shorties Maestro Peanut is the shortest. It is something Peanut is a bit sore about honestly. Its one of the reasons Huey and Skippy both tend to avoid Peanut. Most days they dont mind him but his temper is scary to them.
