Perhaps one of your parents speak a rare dialect! Tagalog isn’t the only Filipine language, after all. My dad speaks visayan that’s native to [redacted] that barely anyone else in the Phillipines speaks. It can really vary depending on location. Idk about their alphabet but I believe the 28 letter one (the one w the ng and ñ) is indeed the one that is nationally recognized for tagalog :> hope this helps!
