We greatly appreciate that our blog, that started from such humble beginnings, got to resonate with so many aspec individuals! I can't believe that I was given the wonderful opportunity to run this blog. And while this blog has experienced some tough times, that we, the aspec community, got to grow so much.
One of my biggest pet peeves is how every older adult in my life always jumps on the "make smart choices" / "always wear protection" / "save yourself until marriage" bandwagon the SECOND they catch word about me having a partner.
They have a point, I guess?? We're a straight presenting couple, I know why they want me to "be careful" or whatever, but I'm so extremely sex repulsed, I physically cannot COMPREHEND a world where I would EVER willingly put myself in a situation where I have sex. Having so many people yap to me about how if I ever "decide to go down that path" I need to make sure I'm on birth control and take all the proper precautions, makes me SICK.
I don’t want to talk about sex in the middle of a library with my friends sister who I've only met 5 times in our 12 years of friendship. Yes Dad, this is the third lecture I've heard this month about your sex life and how I need to make sure I don't get pregnant. I promise I got the memo the first time.
AND THATS ALL THEY EVER TALK ABOUT. They never ask how our relationship's going, they never ask about how we met, they never ask about how we got together, ALL they want to know is what base we've made it to & to make sure I know I have to "be careful".
I'd rather be WATERBOARED than have sex with ANYONE. PLEASE stop giving me random PSA's about safe sex, they do NOT apply to me.
And I wish everyone didn’t immediately assume we want to have sex. I hate societal standards.
sometimes being aspec is watching the allos go nuts like you’re at the theatre watching the latest play and you’re up on the statler and waldorf balcony away from it
I think a lot of us have the experience of being teenagers and going "wow, everyone is so stupid for dating others, so much drama, lmao" only to realize you're not special but just aro/ace(-spec).
i feel bad about being aplatonicflux because i cant keep up with friends but. then i remembered i cant control this & its just like being ace. ive always been ace and ive always been proud. so why am i upset about this ?
You are not "just stereotypes" or "bad representation". You are not hurting your community, and you have just as much right to be here and to celebrate your identity as any other aspecs.
