Sweet merciful goodness--updating everything is going to take a long time.
It's been so long since I did a blog update...almost everything is out of date.
I shudder to think of what is sitting in my newbie reference things.
I wrote a little thing for your witchy wishlist. I wrote about Anat, as she jumped out at me (had to stalk your Canaan 101 section, as I am unfamiliar; I work with the Greeks). Anyways, I think it'll fit in two of these? Might be three? Not sure if you have a trigger warning for blood, but I do mention it (the war thing, and all). Anyways, coming right up in the next couple of things. I hope you enjoy!
Smeared in victorious ambergris, she grins with an impish look in her eyes, pausing to wipe the blood off her arrow tips. “The blood, it runs like rivers, from your enemies and mine. Blood is blood. Don’t ever forget that.” Placing the last arrow in her quiver, she stands up and finds the full moon, hung high in the sky, glancing through the thunder clouds. The soil is damp and rich beneath her, and she laughs wildly as she takes off at a run, ecstatic with the feel of battle still roaring in her veins, as the thunder roars in yours. You reach up and touch your damp forehead, wet and chilled from the sudden rain, still slightly sticky with the blood from your battle. As another squall picks up, you swear you can hear the echoes of her laughter riding on the storm as the lightning crackles overhead. Blood and water, purge and renew.

NONE OF MY GIFS ARE EXCITED ENOUGH FOR THIS
Do you think one can be a Canaanite polytheist and respect/worship/interact with other pantheons? If yes, even if they don't necessarily share similar ideologies? I'm asking because I think I remember reading on Tess Dawson's blog that one can't or would be hard pressed to worship both the I'luma and another pantheon simultaneously. But being drawn to two pantheons/paths, specifically ANE/Natib Qadish and Heathenry.
Hello! :)
I certainly do think you can work with the Canaanite pantheon and another pantheon. Tess and I don't always agree on many things. However, I do think we would be in similar opinion that, when working with multiple pantheons, one should remember the context, culture, and history for each and work with the specific deities with regards for that.
That is, mostly to say that you should be polite to each and not pull them totally out of their setting. The culture they are from is largely a part of who they are.
Now, that being said, I'll happily reiterate that I see no reason you can't work with more than one pantheon. :) Besides that fact, the Canaanite pantheon would seem like a prime candidate for one willing to put up with other deities. Heck, Respu and Kothar-wa-Khasis are Egyptian in origin, and Anat's worship was carried over into Egypt.
Let me explain how excited I get whenever I have ANE stuff in my inbox.
I literally have to get up to go tell my roommates and I end up kind of dancing around our kitchen/living room space.
I kid you not.
So excited.
I'm about to send my answers to your shop questions. It'll come in parts. Sorry! 1) I would get a wooden shelf/table, candle sticks of all kinds (from chime holders to votives to tapers and pillar platters) and candles, a ritual dagger, a bowl/abalone shell, a cauldron/something to burn incense. Secondary needs would be a tarot deck, crystals, herbs, and statues/imagery of deities/spirits/etc. And more candles. I use candles in everything. I buy candles more than anything else. [[cont1]]
2) I'd hope to see something like "101 ways to hide shrines/altars" or a list of non-traditional elemental representations because I AM a first year college student and I'm damn near clueless. I think this is also something someone would forgot to put in the package
3) I most commonly purchase herbs (if it's something I use constantly I'd happily buy it in bulk) and candles of all sizes. chimes, votives, pillars, no matter. I don't care if they come "pre-purposes" (like a candle already charged for blessing or something) or just a normL candle. I buy essential oils often too. I adore books and tarot/oracle cards. I also almost always buy a small statue/token when I'm out at metaphysical shops. I would be happily surprised to find Norse or Greek god statues. I'd buy it if I had the money right on the spot. I also occasionally buy pre-made spell kits. I don't always use them for the specific spell, but I either give them as gifts to friends I know need something like that or use the items in other ways.
4) I use everything, but ever once in a while I buy a crystal and, I'll be honest, it'll take me a long time to find a use for it because I bought it for its looks.
5) I'd hope there'd maybe be a little crystal, herb packet(s), maybe a sampler of an incense/oil, information cards on these items. Nothing too fancy. Maybe a mini spell kit? An herb, crystal, chime candle and holder (incense maybe?) and a info card on how to do it. I don't really know what I'd spend on it.6) Statues/pictures of deities or similar. I'm not very good at visualization, and it helps so much if I have something to look at. A ritual dagger. A cauldron/something similar. Space. Mostly space. However, I'd also buy a candle and use it to bless the place I moved into. I'd do this months, or at least as often as I could. Candles. I'm sorry there's so much! I wanted to give you enough info to be helpful.
Thank you for answering, Anon! :) I really appreciate it.
(Just for a learning curve, always remember to double check that you've got anon selected before sending in parts. :) I know how easy it is to slip up. Your secret's safely deleted.)
--dramatic sigh--
No Jaleesa for me.
Say, does anyone know if the Box Ghost has been up to anything, lately? That was always good for a terrifyingly painful laugh.
Shhh, Book Is Adding Something to the Witchy Wishlists
By which I mean I figure I should put one up if I want to run around to other people's stuff. And since everything I might do is computer only, I'll make my list computer only, too. (Also because y'all aren't allowed to give me stuff. I've got enough physical stuff for me to accidentally step on and break, as it is.)
Anywho, wishlist below:
