Kentucky's 'child bride' bill stalls as groups fight to let 13-year-olds wed

Senate Bill 48 was pulled off the agenda just hours before a scheduled vote.

How the fuck is it still legal for an adult to marry a child in some states in the US? If you live in Kentucky or Florida (or California with their “judge may issue for any age rule, or God knows what other states), please write your state legislatures demanding that they immediately put forward legislation to make child marriages illegal.  Something that should have been done a long fucking time ago.  Especially given the fact that a good amount of children forced into these “marriages” are young girls who were raped and impregnated by predatory men, and then forced to marry them.  Those poor kids.

It’s time this shit stopped.

To those that are US citizens, I made a Whitehouse.gov petition to try and get child marriage made illegal nationwide.  I also urge you to contact both your senators and representatives if you can.
