Picked this up at an antique store today, it's an original pastel drawing. The signature reads McLaughlin. I love how stylish this guy is, especially his staff and wizard robe. I think it's probably from the 70's or 80's. I can tell he's from the northwest, but otherwise don't know enough to recognize the style. If anyone can tell me anything about more it, I'd be grateful!
Edit: I found out the artist is Blackfoot, and actually pretty well known, she died in 1987. So now I'd say maybe 60's or 70's...this dude doesn't look Blackfoot to me, so he's still a mystery.
“Wolves: The Art of Bob Dempsey” is currently being exhibited until April 16. He is considered the leading carver of BC’s northwest coast. • • • #igerstoronto #kleinbergontario #vaughanontario #ontario #canada #yorkregion #art #carving #mcmichaelartgallery #wolves #indigenous #wolves #bobdempsey #tahltan #tingit (at McMichael Canadian Art Collection) https://www.instagram.com/p/CpD36oHv_4w/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
Flag of the Tahltan Nation (First Nations, BC, Canada)
from /r/vexillology Top comment: The Tahltan Nation is comprised of two member governments; the [Iskut First Nation](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iskut_First_Nation) and the [Tahltan First Nation](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tahltan_First_Nation). This is why the flag features both a wolf and a crow. Although I unfortunately don't know which represents which. Maybe someone could share the info if they know. I personally love First Nations' flags. It's like finding hidden gems. They often have refreshing and unique designs.

I went to the VAG today to see Ayumi Goto and Peter Morin’s joint show: how do you carry the land? The whole show was great but I was particularly struck by the stills from Morin’s 2013 performance where he donned a traditional button blanket and visited major cultural sites around London. Perter Morin is a Tahltan First Nations artist from BC.
Peter Morin Cultural Graffiti in London, 2013 documentation of performance
"Buckingham palace. thousands of people. set up the blanket. put on your armor. sing the song. the song that is a Tahltan river rushing inside of me. the drum speaks. it says 'this drum supports indigenous voice.' the drum beats are bullets. does anyone know this? (only me.) sing the song. fall down and sing the song into the land. drum and sing around the monument. overheard conversations: 1. I think he thinks he's an Indian. 2. shhhh. this is an indigenous performance. i also hear applause." - Peter Morin
"We are alive, we remain, we are vibrant, you did not win." Morin, 2013
There was an extremely beautiful piece of writing beside the photo of him with Pocahontas’ statue but I can’t find it anywhere. The gist of it was about how he wanted her to know that they remember her and that he doesn’t want to leave her alone again. It had me tearing up in the gallery. Amazing artist.
