Major Games Voice ~In a glass forest of blossoming light~

Today I bring you an act I’ve been binging heavily upon in the last few weeks. Major Games hails from Lawrence Kansas and bring a particularly turbid spectral sounding music with a blend of psych, post-punk and shoegaze with a few little punches of weirdo noise rock in there as well. The band’s new self titled LP is their first release in 4 years and man did they come back with a kind of cunning melodic vengeance that I only see every few years at least. Practically every track on the album is utter esoteric melodic mastery, a beautiful compound of perfectly placed tension building drum and bass work, churning sparkling guitar work and vocal parts that soar just perfectly over the lush musical treeline beneath. This band is a perfect modern example of that you don't have to sing in a typical low 80s crooner voice to make good post-punk.

The album appears on the incredibly rad Kansas based record label This Aint Heaven Recordings Concern, there is so many great musically diverse bands that pass through their doors it’s really quite impressive. Check out one more song from the record entitled “Prism” below and definitely go drop a few bucks on the album or the vinyl if youre so inclined.

To the band itself, I would whole heartedly like to extend an invitation to come play Denver. Even if it’s a way out I’m sure we could set you up with a very cool show in town with some other great bands. If you are interested feel free to contact me <3
