Put a word in my ask and I will write a headcanon about it for my Muse
Ever since he was a child, Rai always had a protective nature towards his friends and loved ones. He’s the oldest child in his family, Rei being his (fostered) younger brother and Mao being his younger sister.
Mao in particular, being a hot-headed and curious child, was the one who would get herself in trouble the most (Rai himself wasn’t any less...) and both him and Rei were always ready to stand up for her. Of course, the three siblings were close enough to have each other’s back in any situation, no matter what.
As his brother left the village, Rai’s heart shattered along with his trust and self-confidence, which only increased his impulse to watch over and protect what was left under his care, namely his beloved sister and his team.
Even though he and his brother got back on good terms with time, Rai still struggles with his fear of loss, to the point of becoming obsessively jealous and protective of what and who belongs to him or his care. Touch or harm his siblings, his wife or his children and he will do anything in his power to guard and defend them.
Even with his own life.

He’s heard this PLENTY of times before from the swordsman, and yet the demons answer NEVER really changed. Still the look of ‘ are you serious ? ‘ comes upon his face as he just STARES at him. Does he not realize how AWKWARD the red district is for him ? Sure he could switch if he so WANTED but that would be using RESERVED energy needed for something far more IMPORTANT ; protecting this lazy ass. ❝ I’ll pass on that. I’d rather not be called CUTE by the ladies there, thanks. ❞ Come his words, as per usual. Did he not get that he disliked being called CUTE ? or perhaps he saw it as he could HELP the swordsman attract more ladies. Regardless of that fact he wasn’t going and moved an arm to get the other off of his shoulder. FRIEND or not he was always so unsure about being TOUCHED and personal space was something he LIKED despite it being invaded far too many times to count. ❝ I’ll stay here if you REALLY want to go. But I’m not coming with you, not now and not ever.❞ So he says, but he knew that there might be a SMALL chance that he might – maybe.

Who’s the first to wake up in the morning: Rai. Village life demands villagers to wake up at dawn, especially if a house lacks of running water, plumbing and so on, so he’s usually up at around 6am, give or take. Besides, he has a very light sleep, and thanks to his racial descent, when he wakes up he’s almost instantly awake – unless he’s sleep deprived. But that’s another story.
Who’s the one to make breakfast: Neither, it’d be better for their own good to have breakfast in a bar. Nevertheless, while Rai is an utter disaster when it comes to cooking, if extremely necessary his creations could look terrifying, but they’re edible… most of the time.
Who’s the one to serve the other breakfast in bed: Rai. Behind his tough façade he is a huge softie. And, if in the right mood, he would do anything to please his partner. Like doing his best to cook the perfect breakfast no matter how many times he could cut his fingers or burn himself at the stove.
Who would suggest a quickie in the morning before work: Again, Rai. Takao doesn’t look like someone who makes a big deal out of sex, but Rai’s sex drive is noticeably high. And if he loves particularly his partner, he would do anything to spend some intimate time with them, may it be the whole night or just a handful of minutes.
Who suggests they both ditch work to lay around all day: Hah! Takao, of course! He’s the lazy bum in the house. Rai works hard and doesn’t argue on his responsibilities. After all, he’s grown up in a village, where if one wishes to eat, sleep or even go to the toilet they have to earn it, no questions allowed!
Who chooses the movies: Takao. Back at the village the only entertainment would either be wooden toys, Beyblades, card games, books, etc. No electric power means no tv, radio and so on, unless they travel for two hours to the nearest town and go to the cinema, which is still an actually pretty rare event. So yes, Rai is very ignorant when it comes to movies! But Takao will fill that gap, right?
Who initiates kissing during the movie, thus distracting the other from the movie altogether: Rai. At least when spending time with a loved one. He may enjoy watching a movie, but he wouldn’t find it as interesting as the one sitting by his side. There’s so much that could be done instead of sitting still in front of a tv… unless they’re watching something, uh, inspiring. Then, they could mix business with pleasure. Woohoo!!
Who orders lunch: Either of them. However, the question is not who orders lunch, but who pays for lunch. Being both bottomless pits, how many thousands of money are they going to spend in one day? Bets are open!
Who steals food from the other’s plate without asking: Most likely Takao. Because after the fifth helping he’s going to be so full he’s going to be unable to stand and help himself a sixth time. But he can still stretch an arm out to Rai’s plate, especially if he’s off to the bathroom…
Who curls up next to the other and falls asleep due to a full tummy: Takao, definitely. Never forget the post-lunch daze thing he does everytime he stuffs himself like a turkey!
Who distracts the other from trying to work at home: Takao. Because he is never as affectionate as when Rai is trying to focus on that dresser he’s trying to build (by reading the instructions upside-down). And of course, a hint, a tease… ah, screw the dresser. What harm could be done by keeping their clothes scattered around their room for one more night?
Who asks to go get ice cream like a five year old: Takao. There’s nothing like a yummy ice cream before watching a movie. Rai, on the other hand, is not very much of a sweet tooth. He dislikes sweets with a passion, so he totally forgot to buy that box of ice cream on the highest shelf of the supermarket’s freezer…
Who takes pictures of their partner eating ice cream: Takao. Because seeing Rai eat ice cream is like seeing a unicorn fly over a full-blown rainbow. Unless it’s the only thing he could eat without the risk of setting the kitchen on fire.
Who makes a sexual joke about the dripping ice cream on their partner’s face: Rai. Because someone as physical as him just cannot restrain from connecting the “everyday” with the “naughty” -- more or less like any other dirty minded human being on Earth. Say or do something questionable and his mind will automatically go ‘ding’!
Who cooks dinner: Neither. For their own sake, it’s better if they order dinner (and just like with lunch... who pays?), also because at the end of the day Rai would have been working hard and would be a little too tired and grumpy to be thinking about attempting to cook. A box of ice cream sounds better, and it says a lot.
Who cleans up the kitchen afterwards: Neither of them would like to do that, so they would most likely end up not cleaning it, at least not right afterwards... until they find a deal, and take turns. Which Takao will promptly ignore, so let’s say 65% Rai, 35% Takao.
Who stays up until 2am reading: Neither of them. Takao would be sleeping like a log, and even if sleepless, Rai doesn’t like reading. Unless it’s the instruction booklet of the aforesaid dresser he failed to assemble earlier that day...
Who kisses/stares at their partner while they’re sleeping: Rai, most certainly. He may be cranky, hot headed and pessimistic, but whenever he happens to get in bed after his partner, his soft side fully comes out. He could spend hours watching over his loved one, and when sleep finally wins over him, the goodnight kiss is a must. Especially since, technically, there’s no one that could judge him for being too soft. Unless his partner wakes up... or was never asleep to begin with!

Who’s the first to wake up in the morning: Rei, depending on how tired he was the night before. Though he always seems to wake up before Takao.
Who’s the one to make breakfast: Rei,again he’d the one up early enough to make it.
Who’s the one to serve the other breakfast in bed: Both, when either of them are feeling like treating the other. ( rei more as he is awake before Takao to do so )
Who would suggest a quickie in the morning before work: Both. Takao more as let’s face it he has a hard time letting Rei leave. And Rei would depending on how needy he’s feeling, etc.
Who suggests they both ditch work to lay around all day: Depending on the situation, Takao. And Rei would need a bit of convincing but he’d follow along as he likes lazing around and taking a naps.
Who chooses the movies: Takao, as Rei hasn’t seen many movies to know which he likes the most to choose.
Who initiates kissing during the moving, thus distracting the other from the movie all together: Both, if Rei is feeling in the mood devious and the movie doesn’t seem to interest him much he’d start. If Takao was feeling like being sneaky himself he would. Either starting would end in a make out session and neither paying attention to the movie.
Who orders lunch: Takao, he knows more food places then Rei does. If they are up for chinese Rei would order.
Who steals food from the other’s plate without asking: Takao. First few times Rei spoke up about it, but now he just deals with it and hands over his unfinished food even for the other to finish for him.
Who curls up next to the other and falls asleep due to a full tummy: Both, they would both curl up beside one another and just lay there till they fall asleep, with Rei regretting that he ate so much.
Who distracts the other from trying to work at home: Both, mostly Takao though when he’s bored. And Rei will when he’s also bored, but is patient enough sometimes to wait till the work is finished.
Who asks to go get ice cream like a five year old: Takao. Complete with puppy eyes and lots of ‘ please ! ‘ happening if Rei says no.
Who takes pictures of their partner eating ice cream: Rei secretly.
Who makes a sexual joke about the dripping ice cream on their partner’s face: Both, Rei would whisper it in Takao’s ear with a grin. While Takao would voice it out loud making the tiger flush in embarrassment.
Who cooks dinner: Rei, unless they order take out.
Who cleans up the kitchen afterwards: Rei, but he has been slowly getting Takao to help too.
Who stays up until 2 reading: Rei. Only if the book interests him and by 2am he’d be passed out with the book nearby.
Who stares at their partner while their sleeping: Both. Rei would stare fondly at Takao and appreciate how peaceful he looks asleep. Takao would probably just admire Rei’s beauty since he usually sleeps with his hair untied.
Who kisses their partner while they sleep: Both. Rei would be soft tender kisses with whispers of affectionate words before falling asleep. Takao would give light kisses and nuzzles to help reassure him that Rei laying beside him is his.
