When Tails grows up, he’s a grumpy teen for a couple years. Usually wanting to be on his own, his sassy remarks get more lethal, and he is super frustrated that his voice keeps cracking, so villains don’t take him seriously.
The worst part: he no longer wants hugs or cuddles.
Sonic is so upset. He’s not a hugger, but he makes an exception sometimes for his beloved baby bro. He has fond memories of cuddling him to sleep when nights get tough.
Then this fuckin teenage genius fox is like “I don’t need a hug, I’m not a little kid anymore” and Sonic’s like 🥺🥺🥺🥺 “but you’re still my little kid”
Sonic somehow has a sense for when Tails gets nightmares, he always seems to appear when he wakes up from them. The grumpy teen is too sleepy to tell the hedgehog to gtfo of his bed, he doesn’t need to be comforted.
Tails still gives hugs to Amy tho! Amy is very happy about this! Bestie hugs are the best! She kinda feels bad for Sonic, but she still teases him whenever he sees them hugging.
With Knux, Tails doesn’t have a choice, he is GOING to get noogied, and he’s GOING to fuckin like it!
Tails spends a bit more time on Angel Island because it’s much more peaceful up there, and he enjoys the company of Knuckles and this squad of chao that always seem to find him.
Cream also gets hugs still. He’s not a monster.
Super Sonic Suffering for 3 years until Tails is over his emo phase and likes hugs again. When that happens Sonic carry’s him around for a bit, not giving a damn if the kid towers over him now. HE DONT CARE WHAT TIME SAYS HES STILL HIS BABY BOYE
Sonic cant join easter egg hunts because he'll find them all way too quickly and takes all the eggs.
So Tails takes the Tornado and dumps eggs over a area like those firefighter planes dumping water, probably wooded areas so Sonic can have more ground and have fun too.
But if hes not joining period, hes the one who hides them for the kids of the group.

SONIC his desk is meant for carving and sleeping on it, nothing more. you guys sit all the way in the back (come on, this is sonic we're talking about) so he's your eating-during-class buddy. you know him well enough to know he pays little to no attention in class and somehow gets better grades than you? you've also lost count of how many times he's asked you to ditch class with him.
KNUCKLES doesn't pay attention unless it's something he's actually interested in, not to mention he doesn't know what's going on during a lesson most of the time anyways. he relies on you a lot as well. it's gotten to the point that for the sake of him and his grades, you just let him study your notes before tests. also wants to slam his desk everytime the teacher says "the bell doesn't dismiss you, i do".
TAILS the smartest kid in class, but you should know that. always turns his assignments on time and has never been absent. he's always willing to share his notes with you when the teacher is going to fast or you just happen to miss a day. the teacher already knows that y'all have to sit next to each other because otherwise you'll never get your work done.
SHADOW refused to make any interaction with anyone at first, but you grew on him over time. has this whole "i go to school to study, not make friends" attitude. enjoys drinking coffee with you every morning at your desks, so y'all bond over that. it's no secret he's a smartass, so if a topic is too hard for you, he'll lean over and whisper the answer in your ear, which makes you flustered everytime.
SILVER never have you met someone so organized but a mess at the same time lol. he is known for having the prettiest handwriting his journals are so well put together and is generally organized in that sense. drops his utensils all the time tho, and you're always the one to find and hand them back to him. it started happening so often that you figured he may just be doing it to get closer to you.

Sonic is very open minded and wouldn't feel intimidated or threatened unless you're openly trying to attack or insult him. That being said, he would absolutely be nervous when he first meets you and wonders if he's somehow pissed off someone he's never met before with the way you're looking at him
However, after trying to talk to you to see what's up, he would soon realize you're just an oddball- in a good way! How you two met is something Sonic laughs about a lot
Sonic's an oddball himself, and he would probably be intrigued by you- after that weird first meeting he would stop by to say hi whenever he's in town!
If you stumble over words or have a hard time getting what you want to say out, he would be very patient when trying to talk with you.
Sonic will make sure he understands you clearly. Emotions can be hard for people, and Sonic wants to make sure to ask questions if he feels he got something wrong. Despite being impatient, Sonic cares about his friends a lot and will slow down for them if he needs to!
His mouth works faster than his brain, and he will end up joking about your appearance a lot. However, If you're uncomfortable with that, he would instantly stop and apologize! In this house, we have respectful hedgehogs only.
Sonic is a very social extrovert and would try and help you with learning some social skills. You might be better off asking someone else for help though, learning social skills from a cocky blue hedgehog doesn't sound very productive...
Sonic would teach you how to be confident with yourself. So what if someone doesn't like how you look? That's their problem, not yours!
An extra perk of going into public with Sonic is a lot more people are willing to approach you. Sonic is famous for saving the world multiple times after all, so if someone is traveling with him that must mean they aren't so bad! He helps your reputation a lot, and that helps you make more friends and be more social!
He would go out of his way to defend you from rude comments and comfort you if the comments get to you. Anyone who insults his friends is in for a barrage of insults and challenges from Sonic!
Overall, I feel like he would be just an amazing friend no matter what you look like. He'll never comment on your appearance in a negative or non-joking way, even if he's upset. You're still better off asking someone else for help with expressing yourself better though!
Tails wouldn't be intimidated at all! He completely understands being bullied for physical appearance. He would love to talk to you and make a friend in a similar situation he was in before. He just has to pick up the courage to talk first!
With a lot of help from Tail's friends, he would eventually come up and try and talk to you- however, the first conversation was really awkward, and neither of you really knew what to say!
After a while of trying- congrats, you got yourself a little misfit friend, just like yourself. An intimidating person/animal walking around with a fluffy friendly fox is a rather odd sight.
Tails would have a hard time trying to decipher your emotions, tones, and what you actually mean- be patient with him, he's going to misunderstand a lot!
He's a bit of an introvert himself mostly due to nervousness, you two probably wouldn't hang out in public a lot. Tails prefers sharing interests and hobbies at home though, so that's fine with him!
He would be pretty helpful with teaching social skills, and would even offer to practice along with you! He needs to learn as well anyway, so may as well do it with a friend.
Tails would teach you how to be comfortable with yourself if you're insecure about your physical appearance. He found the courage to be comfortable with his, helping someone else with that problem is no big deal to him!
He would do everything he can to comfort you if insults get to you. He's not great at saying the right things or trying to help, but he is trying and that's what counts! Sometimes, hugging a fluffy fox is all you need.
Tails would defend you from insults as well, though he would do so in a more civilized manner than Sonic or Knuckles. He wouldn't insult or try to fight the person, just say that whatever insults they throw at you aren't true, and they should learn to respect people more and not judge based on appearance.
Overall, very helpful and sweet- you two fit together so well it's hard to imagine yourself not being friends!
I'm sorry, this knucklehead would think you're trying to start a fight with the way you're looking at him. This echidna isn't trusting unless you're manipulating him, or you prove you're trustworthy.
He would try to approach you and ask if you want to fight in an aggressive way- probably leaving you panicking and desperately trying to get out of this situation-
However, once he realizes you, in fact, just look scary and do NOT want to fight, he would calm down and try to understand the situation better
Knuckles would apologize and be rather embarrassed by his actions, and wouldn't leave you alone until you took his apology- he's a very honorable echidna, and would probably take you to get ice cream as an apology. He heard from Sonic that everyone likes ice cream! (Sorry if you have a sensitive mouth like me, you're not getting out of it!)
After that really rocky start, he would try to know you better, Knuckles also looks rather intimidating and is honestly relieved to find someone else in the same situation as him
More on "in the same situation"- no social skills buddies! This isolated echidna has trouble expressing his emotions well too and would be 0 help with social skills.

On the plus side, now you're not the only one embarrassing yourself in public, you have a friend to share your misery with!
Knuckles would take a *lot* of things you say the wrong way with your lack of emotion, and it's more of a hassle to clear up anything with Knuckles than you might think- don't hate him for it though, he's just trying to be helpful and showing that he cares for his friend!
He's the kind of "I take 0 bullshit" guy. Any insults result in a fight you have to break up, and Knuckles would eat his own arm if he ever insulted your physical appearance.
Knuckles is not very good with comforting either, he has a lot of bottled-up emotions himself. Not much help physically or verbally, but he'll still be there for you!
Overall, a very endearing friend, but a friend in the same boat. Intimidating on the outside- a great friend on the inside!
• his favorite drink is hot cocoa! he really likes trying new hot cocoa powder mixes and making his own when winter comes along, stirring his mug with a peppermint candy cane more often in the holidays. other than that he enjoys coffee very much
• favorite holiday is christmas. he gets so excited about it every year as early as november, he'll be decorating everything on the 1st. he counts down the days eagerly and encourages his friends to do the same... he loves the toy trains that go around the tree he'll sit and stare at it as it loops in circles (he made it himself)
• cozy fox. a sweater, scarf and big puffy jacket lover, he's gotta be bundled up for the snow!
• can type scarily fast on any device, many of his replies are immediate
• i like to think that tails got so used to being called buddy, bud, pal, etc. by sonic that it rubbed off on him when talking to others
• he'll dance and sing only when he's alone, he gets embarrassed about it! he likes to do those 80s dance training videos
• does not like being woken up at all he's very very cranky about it, it's a gamble for your life to rouse him unnecessarily! he literally opened fire on eggman for waking him up in sonic x and i find that hilarious i wish i was exaggerating. this kid needs his snormimis
• mint chocolate truther
• one last thing about mint is that while he loves them (and the flavor) i don't think he'd like the texture of bubblegum too much. bad texture and it gets stuck in his fangs and fur and it's very annoying
• tails being tails (being 8 years old) finds most puns and jokes absolutely hilarious he'll laugh so honestly and double over and slap his knee and wheeze
• he laughs at 90% of sonic's jokes like it's the best joke he's ever heard, while the other 10% he rolls his eyes and goes NOOO that was so lame! (but he still laughs). he'll try to come up with puns to get back at him, studying how he makes jokes and trying to emulate them every now and then... the humor rubs off on him
• he is EXCELLENT at the art of nonverbal code communication. with one silent sly glance he can be very precise in what he conveys, but you need to be close to him so that this works
• knows how to play the piano! he's a beginner at it, he taught sonic how to play some simple tunes
• i like to think he kept his gadgets from tails adventure and they're still very precious to him, since they were some of his first inventions ever. his old laboratory he probably donated to the inhabitants of cocoa island to use as a shelter or something like that
• he's terrifyingly good at water balloon fights. he chucks those like they're bombs i'm just obsessed with bomb-chucking tails i think this is the least i can do to honor that era
• always always always moving his tail around! it's a good way to burn off energy even while he's standing completely still! but if he's particularly nervous he can wring them or find some intricate hands-on task (putting together a trinket or taking it apart, etc.) to occupy himself with and slow himself down
• he has quite the competitive spirit! once again it rubbed off from his big bro can you blame him
Whenever he's not eating chili dogs he's absolutely stuffing his face with green peppers casually and it scares Tails sometimes - He doesn't like the texture of pudding - He makes air guitar movements when he's bored and needs to stim - He sometimes just aggressively runs back and forward in place when he's getting agitated but doesn't want to admit it - Doesn't like pants and would wear a skirt out of spite if someone told him he had to wear a full formal outfit for an event - Needs to sleep at odd, uncomfortable angles or else he gets too restless - Talks with his entire body without realizing
Tails
Talks with his hands and feet a bit unintentionally, isn't as good at language based things such as spelling compared to his math and science/physics abilities - Sometimes sleeps with one of his tails in his mouth on accident and has to deal with the fur mouth later - Used to always sleep in sonic's bed when he was smaller until one night he woke up to see sonic was sleeping on the nightstand and realized he's a restless sleeper & had been kicking sonic out of his bed every night
Uses mints as/for a chewing/mouth based stim - Thought he'd had crushes on a couple of girls sonic knew but realized he just idolized them for being stronger and older than him - Sometimes just paces in a small slow circle when he's stressed and goes "what's the funniest thing sonic as done this week" to himself to calm down
Knuckles
He doesn't like to laugh often because, even if it's a genuine response to smth funny, He always feels like he's forcing it which is uncomfortable - Likes to tie his spines up or just accessorize his head because he finds it comforting - Goes absolutely stiff and will keep holding eye contact if he's having a casual conversation with someone that doesn't involve any dangers nearby - Tends to just sit in water a lot, especially if he's mad at sonic - Loves dark chocolate icecream specifically - Likes the color pink bc of Rouge and his super form - Sticks his tongue out when he's showering and just sits there enjoying life with the water on his face - Puts on lots of sunscreen before going out to guard the master emerald now bc of Amy
