✦ — seulmi is an avid advocate for ‘forgive and forget,’ but mostly forget because the true creed amongst the elite is to ‘ignore and forget.” this is no sincere forgiveness but one can pretend. one always does. but there is one person it’s difficult to forget anything about. so she’s avoided him the best she can until this moment. she nearly forgot how the salon is one of his most frequented places and seeing him reminds her of how one of hers used to be in his arms. she thought she had given up that notion— of missing the affection, of missing him, but old habits die hard.

it’s one of her old habits that still haunts her about their relationship. emotions projected onto him rather than told to him and she’d been too proud in the past to admit it, that it was never truly him. what a cliche. ‘it’s not you but me,’ and yet they’d never had that talk. in truth, seulmi can barely recall the last time they actually spoke, at least in the way she needed— the way she denied that she needed. a manner of sincerity and honesty, of blunt emotion she couldn’t afford that could’ve salvaged what they had, but she couldn’t drag him into her mess. not then, and certainly not now.

she could easily come back another day. she could not easily come back from any interaction with him.

clumsiness is a factor she didn’t take into account and it doesn’t help when the sleeve of her oversized shirt is caught on the end of a styling chair, the abrupt turn in her stride the cause of it all when she bumps into one of the assistants there after trying to hurriedly free her sleeve. the mixture of dye is the main victim in this situation and she apologizes profusely as she reaches for paper towels to help wipe it up even at the insistence that she not worry (but seulmi suspects that the person thinks she’s more likely to harm than help, which isn’t a far cry from the truth. she’s always been like that). it’s when she glances up that a glance intended to be brief is thrown in his direction, only to mistakenly linger once their eyes meet. she always did feel trapped once that happened. if he really tried, he could paralyze her. sometimes, he didn’t have to try.

recognition takes her a beat longer than it ought to and she finally heeds the assistant’s words, getting up and leaving the paper towels in yet another type of mess in her wake. suddenly, her oversized shirt feels like even more of a mistake because she feels more exposed than ever, a hand settling over her shoulder, fingers lightly curling over the ornate straps of her bralette, and a fashion statement felt like one she shouldn’t be making anymore, dark tressed tossed over one side as a last resort but it was already too late.

student council has her preoccupied. not that krystal minds the trouble, holding power within lithe fingers grants the teen a sliver of excitement that dances down the base of her spine, taking root in aching molars like morphine. as a member, she is required to be there for every meeting, required to offer feedback and smiles and organize ( of course, the latter is her preference, krystal controlling like that, doesn’t want to miss a single detail like that, the eager fool ).

which also meant that she was to meet regularly with ever the frivolous chey tai.

krystal didn’t gossip. didn’t much involve herself with the usual gabble of who’s dating who and who’s cheating on who. but even then, it’s hard to ignore cheong ryong drama, hard to fully set aside the spectacle those boys have to offer ( not to say that baek ho is any less dramatic, as a matter of fact the soon-to-be hell week will wreck havoc on not just the initiates, but the rest of the school as well ). so yes, she knows of tai, not to say she wants to, but she does.

god does like to pit her against overzealous beings.

“sorry,” she starts, mindful of the end of babble that she didn’t truly catch as her gaze lifts to meet his, the corner of her lips twitching upward slightly in an ( admittedly ) half-hearted attempt to be “kind”. there was no need to be hostile with members of cheong ryong.

bones to pick, bridges to burn || tai + jongin

Jongin doesn't normally like being forced into involvement. Especially with this kind of topic-- "hurt feelings" or "unrequited loves" were really not his forte, having only had maybe one almost-relationship that never was really what he felt like it should be. He wasn't good at "feelings," not like he was good at mathematics or engineering. He'll probably end up completely alone at the end of his life, never settling down with anyone, and he probably wouldn't even notice. He's not big on relationships.

But he's unendingly interested in how humans work with each other, act and react towards one another, why they love or hate or hurt another person. None of it really makes any sense to him, but sympathy... that was something he was becoming more consciously aware of. Or at least, guilt. Guilt has an interesting affect on him, especially when it comes from a girl. A crying girl. A crying girl who begged Jongin to just do her this one favor. Or she'd die or something.

Jongin is notoriously bad at dealing with girls when they're emotional-- that's like two major kryptonites for him. So he agrees to what she requests of him and keeps a lookout for the boy she loves, having only a picture to identify him by. When he finally sees this other male in the men's bathroom mirror, he almost freezes while washing his hands. Shit. "Uh.." he starts inadequately, before clearing his throat. "Are you.. Chey Tai?" He realizes this is possibly an extremely awkward time to begin this conversation, but when opportunity arises, what else can one do?
