For every person who has listened to love songs playing on repeat,

Imagining what the love of their life would look like and how they should be treated,

Only to be left with their heart shattered into microscopic pieces,

Their lives in shambles and their time given without receiving the time of another in return,

Take a drink.

To the people who have given up their whole selves to become spouses, parents, and continue to wear multiple hats,

Those who felt under appreciated and bamboozled and wound up watering themselves down,

Eventually feeling like a detached soul in a foreign meat suit,

Doubtful and embarrassed of themselves for what makes them who they are,

Take a drink.

For those targeted by the disgust, unwarranted opinions, and piercing glares,

Who have been stalked and hunted like animals because others do not see your value,

Those violated by predators who took a piece of you that you’ve worked so hard to get back,

Those assessing the damage forced upon them by those who only know what it is like to do nothing but take,

Take a drink.

To the people who have crawled out of the depths of the hole that was dug for them genetically and within their environments,

Battling diseases of every kind and trying to find a way to survive,

From chemotherapy to narcan to mood stabilizers,

Fighting just to find a sliver of peace that quiets their minds and doesn’t make the days feel as if they are dragging on,

Take a drink.

To every single person going through hard times,

Wearing masks and faking smiles to avoid the assumption of being a burden to others when deep down you are screaming for help,

To those who are alive today and carrying on the legacies of those that they have lost,

All of you trying to make it through another day in hopes that things will get better one day,

Raise your glass and take a drink you invincible, indestructible, badass fighters!
