I couldn’t help but admire ur comm for keralis! Two small questions: is he a general or a gladiator or a third option I hadn’t considered? And then, can you share some of your references/inspirations? Pretty please?

Context: I’m literally studying Ancient Rome rn — more specifically, I’m literally in the middle of project atm on how ancient Roman fashion is remembered/reimagined in the modern day in comparison to how ancient romans Actually dressed (esp during the Empire-classical periods)

Hi! That sounds so interesting, I'm a fashion history nerd myself so I like doing as much research I can, I mainly went with these two graphs which I would've love to find the sources of but alas this is what I had on hand.

His outfit is of a roman legionary, this would've been used around 100AD, these are visibly lacking the crest, which I added to the galea just because you cannot have "Roman outfit" without the silly brush. So I would say he's dressed like a soldier but has the hat of a general.

Mhm that moment of hesitation before wato followed ken to join invis mafia, bc she was forced to chose. Maybe with a side of bittersweet? Since that’s the last time ken or wato see wifies alive? That’s all today

Wato has never wanted to leave anyone behind. That's perhaps a fatal flaw, contrasted by how easily they let themself leave the world, but they don't want to leave anyone behind and it kills them.

But now they're here, between Ken and Wifies, torn and hurting. They're not the only one hurting. Wifies looks for all the world like he's been stabbed. He's got a scruffy look to him, as he always does when he's out here, but now he looks dejected.

Ken is already invisible. He mustn't be far though. He may want safety, but he wants them both too.

“I won't be mad,” Wifies says softly, looking at Wato with something like resigned exhaustion in his gaze. “I won't. You know I'm not an angry person.”

Wato swallows, throat dry as they say, “I know. I know you won't be.”

Wifies flinches like he's been hit, one eye closing, but then relaxes. His hair moves strangely, tucking back behind his ear, and Wato realizes that it must be Ken. Wifies bites his lip.

“I've got Parrot,” Wifies says. What he doesn't say is, Ken's got no one.

Wato cracks an invis potion at their own feet before they can let it get to them. They brush their own hand against Wifies's other cheek.

He'll be okay. He's got Parrot. When they're on good terms like this, despite what Ken says, Wato trusts them to keep each other safe. He'll be safe.

Wifies says nothing else as they leave. Wato casts the slope of his shoulders, the length of his hair, the way he favors his right side as always, all to memory.
