NON-OPERATIVE THERAPY IN DENTISTRY

Flossing

-An interdental cleaning tool which aids in removing plaque and food particles trapped in between teeth that aren’t eliminated by brushing alone.

Tooth Brushing

-Removes food and plaques on tooth surface thus reduces the probability of developing tooth decay and gum disease. The suggested time of brushing teeth is at least twice a day for 2 minutes each with soft bristle and rounded tips toothbrush.

Tongue Scraping

-Helps remove extra particle from surface of tongue. It does not only improve the appearance of tongue and improve sensation of taste but also removes bacteria that causes bad breath and tooth decay thus reducing bad breath.

Mouthwash

-Rinse out oral bacteria that lives between teeth and tongue. It is recommended to use 3-5 teaspoon of mouthwash twice a day for 30 seconds after brushing and flossing.

Dietary Consumption

-Nutrition is the most important factor in preventing oral diseases. Instead of consuming foods and drinks with high content of sugars, eat foods that are rich in fiber to keep the teeth and gums healthy.

I smile too much. Much of the world doesn’t have a smile resting-face. Mine is; high-wattage, third-generation comfort and expectation carved into the untouched, upturned lines around my mouth. Walking anywhere in the world, I often catch people smiling at me. I don’t understand why until I catch my facial expression. But behind that smile lies a fucking battlefield. Butchering an animal never gives me pause, but it literally skeeves me out to speak about the inner workings of the human body, the organs and their structural housing. Due to this aversion (read: fear), I’ve treated my body like a porcelain doll, avoiding contact sports, addictions that required the use of needles, and much interaction with doctors, except for that nasty case of Hep B (thanks again, Ambassador Ali). But there are some doctors that are avoided at one’s peril. Case in point: the dentist.
