"You just told me it meant nothing. I don’t understand, Harry. Does it mean something, or doesn’t it? Because if it doesn’t, then what good does it do you to know what I want?"
He’s trying so hard not to get upset, but Harry is making this more difficult than Peter could imagine.
"You tell /me/, Harry. Not the other way around."
He's frustrated. Harry knows he's contradicting himself but he doesn't know. Has no idea whatsoever. Does it, or doesn't it? Did it mean anything, or did it not? It's too complicated for him and Harry doesn't have an answer.
But he wants to know what Peter thinks. Selfish, but he is. He is. It's not a question. He doesn't want to think about it but he wants to know what Peter thinks. It doesn't work that way, though, not this time, and he knows.
"I don't understand either, Pete," he admits, and god is it hard to. But being truthful with Peter always works out better than anything, and Harry is taking a leap of faith. "I'm-- It's complicated."
