*grins gleefully* Our full cast is about assembled.
Out in the hallway, Candace found another student to introduce herself to. “Oh, hello!” She stopped and introduced herself. “I’m Candace. I got a late start today.” The guy with the interesting tattoos stopped his progress toward the stairs to greet her in return, “Hey! I saw you in the drums room, didn’t I? The name’s Takeo.” He grinned at her, “But you can call me Tak!”
Candace favored him with a very genuine smile, “You noticed me? I thought everyone was so engrossed in the music they were oblivious to all else.”
Takeo gave her an eyebrow waggle, “Hey, good music is one thing, but I’m not blind when a cute chick makes an entrance. So what made you late this morning?”
Candace actually blushed a little, “Well, I was actually told to start tomorrow instead of today. I just got into town yesterday afternoon. My Great Aunt’s funeral in the morning rather complicated things.”
“Oh wow. Were you close?” Takeo’s smile dimmed slightly at this revelation. “Wait, if you were told not to start until tomorrow, why are you here?”
“I think I didn’t realize how much she cared for me, since I’m here as part of her dying wishes. I was just so curious to learn more about the school and meet my fellow students, so I came in once I was well rested!” Candace was exuberant on this point. It was true, after all. “It seems I missed out on some speech or instructions or something this morning though.” She frowned slightly.
Takeo’s smile recovered, “It’s hard to tell with some people, isn’t it? Well I hope you’re liking what you see.” He gestured and winked, and Candace blushed again. “I wouldn’t worry too much about the intro speech this morning. They’re bound to repeat it again, and have it in writing in a dozen places or something ridiculous like that.” He laughed, “You know, real bureaucrats around here sometimes. Anyhow, I’d better get to my next class. Be seein’ ya!”
As he turned to go, Candace called out, “Oh, can you point me in the direction of the computer room?” Takeo spun on one foot till he was facing her again and pointed to a door just past her, “You’re nearly there Ace!” Then he spun again and hopped over one of the stair bannisters on his way up, taking three steps at a time.
“Thanks!” Candace called after him, then frowned. ‘Ace??’ Well, she supposed it was better than Candy... which someone had tried to call her in elementary school... to their regret. It implied... excellence. She could perhaps take it as a compliment. She turned to enter the computer room.
As Candace stepped inside the door, allowing her ears to absorb the sounds, her eyes likewise absorbed the sights. And what sights! Faith’s brothers might not be much to look at, but they were clearly talented musically. She glanced to her right, at the pale-skinned guy in the green blazer. ‘Is he a vampire?’ she thought to herself, ‘and also... a hunk’. Beyond him, another guy in a leather jacket was clearly grooving to the beat. ‘ALSO a hunk.’ Immediately in front of her was a third hunk with rippling muscles watching the drummer and tapping his foot.
Candace moved further into the room, no one really paying her any mind as they were all focused on the music. ‘Wonderful’ she thought... ‘... how lovely and wonderful.’ She might fit in here after all. She moved a bit further into the room and then stood in a spot where she could survey not only the musicians but all the other occupants of the room. One girl in particular caught her eye with iridescent skin, neon hair, and utterly opaque black eyes. ‘Wait... is she an alien?! Or is that just a fad I’ve never heard of?’ Candace considered thoughtfully.
From this vantage point, she could see three MORE hunks. ‘My my,’ she thought... ‘This might be fun, too.’ A small genuine smile slowly emerged on her face as she continued to take in the music and her fellow students. ‘Yes, this might be fun. Especially if being Tabitha’s great niece had benefits.’
Faith chattered as they exited the music room and walked the large U to the drums and DJ room on the other side of the school, telling Candace about the school, mentioning the names of the other students, and making sure she knew when mealtimes were in the cafeteria. Candace nodded and gave small encouragements and smiles at appropriate moments. The school was far larger than she had imagined, and seemed to have a different room for every possible subject... including several different music rooms, each focusing on a different type of instrument.
As they approached the room where Faith’s brothers, Joe and Jules, were apparently holding most of the rest of the class enrapt with their playing, Candace could hear the drumbeat already. She paused and put a hand on Faith’s arm. “I know you were going to introduce me, and I really do appreciate it,” she gave Faith a warm smile, “but do you think it would be okay if I just quietly walked in and soaked up the music?” As satisfying as Faith’s reaction had been, she really wanted to size up some of the other students before being ‘announced’ to them all.
Faith stopped and turned to look at her, then smiled again. “Sure! Come find me later if you want. I should get to the science classroom. Mum will be so pleased when I tell her! Joe and Jules are always the popular ones, but won’t they be pink when they realize later that I found you first!” Faith gave a light chuckle. “I’ll give you my number, so you can call me anytime if you need help!” Candace exchanged numbers with her and then watched her walk nimbly back down the hall humming a tune. She turned and gave herself a slight nod as she walked up to the door of the room from which all the sound was emanating, and then turned the handle quietly and stepped inside.
OOC Note: The girl on the far right in the above photo is Bailey Swain, another of the townie teens. (I don’t have any other photos of her... xD)
Though they have different jobs, both these guys jobs are based at the Cinema... so after acquiring their jobs they were discussing things out back... Takeo was bragging about how filthy the cinema was and eating dirt for emphasis... Jamal is totally grossed out.
