basically all of my thoughts about the college of magi (pre-mage rebellion. well also post but this isn't about them rn) are made up but the thing is is its soo fascinating. we know there's at least two variations of how votes occur, one with just the first and senior enchanters and another with representatives voting for each fraternity. other than The Big Question what do they usually meet about. how much do they meaningfully affect the circles in general. how often do they meet? we know of one meeting in 9:31, another in 9:38/9 (sources vary), and then the asunder one. do they only meet if a fraternity calls to discuss something? is there some every 3 years clause? are regular enchanters invited to cumberland? i imagine that varies, right. maybe all senior enchanters are invited and then they can individually choose to bring along an enchanter or two Depending?
what benefit could vivienne get out of not joining a fraternity even though she's functionally in agreement with both the loyalists and lucrosians? would this not lock her out of some votes completely? or is the representatives for each fraternity vote not meant to be a norm at all? in that case what do the fraternities do? they're clearly very very relevant to circle politics and i'm so curious as to the specifics how.
many of my own thoughts on this boil down to the college meeting to agree on terms in negotiations with the chantry irt treatment and financials (i believe making that case to the divine is canonically the grand enchanter's job?) + the recent focus on full separation being... not unpresent but for the most part not allowed to become a serious topic of discussion during regular times.
