Waves
Wave seem to be a recurring theme over the last few days. I'm currently sitting on the top deck of the barge, taking a midday break and enjoying some sun and fresh air. However, it hasn't been this peaceful and still practically until this very moment. The tow up was wavy and rough. Very rough. I haven't ever experienced seasickness like that and let me tell you I do not plan on doing it again any time soon. I woke up around five am to my first experience of big, sliding rollers and I had to lay down quick to avoid wooziness. Later when I got up, though, the waves was still there and so was the unsettled state of my stomach. After going up to the kitchen to attempt to work, I barely made it back down below and to the bathroom, puking my guts out. That was lovely. For the rest of the morning I pretty much laid as flat as possible in my little bunk bed, waiting it out. By one or so in the afternoon we were back in protected waters, and so the chef, Cassie, and I were able to make it upstairs and get going on some things in the kitchen. I've now made bread, literally buckets full of cookie dough, croutons, multiple batches of scones, and dinner rolls are sitting to rise as I speak. I think this is going to be a good summer. I'm going to be learning lots, especially in the kitchen, figuring out how to fare on my own and becoming one step closer to independent. Lets say I'm hoping for smooth waters from here on out.
