Some people think that building things with reclaimed wood is quick and easy, and that’s true IF you want the finished product to look like you slapped it together “quickly and easily.” In my humble opinion, though, reclaimed wood deserves more respect than it gets from some #woodworkers. I think tables made from #reclaimedwood should reflect the same careful workmanship and attention to detail you’d find in any well-made piece of fine furniture. Case in point; I take extra time to remove decades of accumulated dirt and debris from splits and cracks, and then I use a folded scrap of sandpaper to smooth out the edges of each one of those splits and cracks.
