Talbott's Revenge
Timmy's Last and A Promise occur before this
---
He saw him.
Fear had no hold on him, as the Animagus chased after the murderer. There was only calm rage. He had lost his father, his mother, and his son. Vengeance would be served. Talbott had made many promises in his life. And he intended to keep them. He promised to avenge his parents. He promised to avenge his son. He promised to come back to his wife.
Something nagged at him. The dark look in Summer’s eyes, the pursing of her lips as she stopped herself from voicing a thought, her knuckles going white as she gripped her wand. She knew something he didn’t about the Death Eater. He was sure of it. Something that she refused to share with him, something that made her almost reluctant to go after him.
But he didn't care. He'd bring the fiend to justice no matter what she thought.
His wings cut through the cold air as he continued to follow Voldemort's little group. The one Death Eater clung close to his master, like a parasite. He had to get him away… Nothing like a bird of prey to be the perfect thing.
The Death Eater cried out in surprise as the golden eagle swooped down and swiped below the mask, hitting the exposed flesh of his neck. Recognition flashed in his sickly green eyes and he immediately abandoned his master and followed after the bird. It's almost too easy… That's right, I'm the same eagle that appeared after you killed my son. Come and get me, filth.
He tore through the battle around him, dodging spell blasts and loud shouts, luring him away and up. Far away and up. Where no one would be around.
It was almost funny he ended up in the Owlery, where he had hidden away from the world in his years as a student. And now he would hide away up here again for a very different purpose. Thankfully, all the owls had fled hours ago from the chaos. Some maybe even carrying off warnings or last written love notes to others. Timmy had never gotten that. His parents had never gotten that.
The Death Eater saw the eagle was "cornered" and continued to throw hexes at it until Talbott dropped into existence in the tower.
"I knew I recognized you, Winger."
"I would hope so after you murdered my son." He blasted a curse at him and the fiend barely dodged in the confined area.
"Oh," the rough voice was amused. "This should be fun."
They entered a duel, a deadly one. Both knew it would end not with mercy or time, but with one winner and one dead.
"DEPULSO!"
A particularly strong spell on the Auror's part, blasted the Death Eater into the wall, knocking his mask off.
Talbott's breath caught. This was why Summer had been hesitant, reluctant, feared to go after him. For looking up at him was her dear old cousin. Donovan Selwyn. Death Eater. Murderer.
He felt something inside him snap. He didn't give his opponent a chance to fight back or surrender or anything. Rage flowed unbridled through him and he said just two words. Two little words he would have never spoken before this moment. But the moment was here.
"Avada Kedavra."
It was instantaneous. The shock twisted with cruel amusement was plastered on his face. The murderer toppled over. Dead.
He did not spare the pathetic body a glance, already jumping off the window ledge, wings replacing his arms. He had it. He did it. He saw the opportunity and took it.
Talbott Winger had his revenge.
Fin.
