Batman: The Adventures Continue (2020) #4: Season Three
Talbott's Revenge
Timmy's Last and A Promise occur before this
---
He saw him.
Fear had no hold on him, as the Animagus chased after the murderer. There was only calm rage. He had lost his father, his mother, and his son. Vengeance would be served. Talbott had made many promises in his life. And he intended to keep them. He promised to avenge his parents. He promised to avenge his son. He promised to come back to his wife.
Something nagged at him. The dark look in Summer’s eyes, the pursing of her lips as she stopped herself from voicing a thought, her knuckles going white as she gripped her wand. She knew something he didn’t about the Death Eater. He was sure of it. Something that she refused to share with him, something that made her almost reluctant to go after him.
But he didn't care. He'd bring the fiend to justice no matter what she thought.
His wings cut through the cold air as he continued to follow Voldemort's little group. The one Death Eater clung close to his master, like a parasite. He had to get him away… Nothing like a bird of prey to be the perfect thing.
The Death Eater cried out in surprise as the golden eagle swooped down and swiped below the mask, hitting the exposed flesh of his neck. Recognition flashed in his sickly green eyes and he immediately abandoned his master and followed after the bird. It's almost too easy… That's right, I'm the same eagle that appeared after you killed my son. Come and get me, filth.
He tore through the battle around him, dodging spell blasts and loud shouts, luring him away and up. Far away and up. Where no one would be around.
It was almost funny he ended up in the Owlery, where he had hidden away from the world in his years as a student. And now he would hide away up here again for a very different purpose. Thankfully, all the owls had fled hours ago from the chaos. Some maybe even carrying off warnings or last written love notes to others. Timmy had never gotten that. His parents had never gotten that.
The Death Eater saw the eagle was "cornered" and continued to throw hexes at it until Talbott dropped into existence in the tower.
"I knew I recognized you, Winger."
"I would hope so after you murdered my son." He blasted a curse at him and the fiend barely dodged in the confined area.
"Oh," the rough voice was amused. "This should be fun."
They entered a duel, a deadly one. Both knew it would end not with mercy or time, but with one winner and one dead.
"DEPULSO!"
A particularly strong spell on the Auror's part, blasted the Death Eater into the wall, knocking his mask off.
Talbott's breath caught. This was why Summer had been hesitant, reluctant, feared to go after him. For looking up at him was her dear old cousin. Donovan Selwyn. Death Eater. Murderer.
He felt something inside him snap. He didn't give his opponent a chance to fight back or surrender or anything. Rage flowed unbridled through him and he said just two words. Two little words he would have never spoken before this moment. But the moment was here.
"Avada Kedavra."
It was instantaneous. The shock twisted with cruel amusement was plastered on his face. The murderer toppled over. Dead.
He did not spare the pathetic body a glance, already jumping off the window ledge, wings replacing his arms. He had it. He did it. He saw the opportunity and took it.
Talbott Winger had his revenge.
Fin.

Timothy "Timmy" Winger Jr.
Born September 22 in 1995, this son was named after Talbott's father. Little Timmy was well loved by his Auror parents. Though his early childhood was full of growing darkness and danger as Voldemort returned. In 1998, Summer and Talbott left the Ministry and fled, hiding in Talbott's parents' old house.
But one day, tragedy struck. Unfortunately, the Ministry had record the house was in their possession and it wasn't long until Death Eaters came thundering in. Sure that the two were members of the Order of the Phoenix, they tortured them for information. Both refused to give up any information. So they turned to the crying child and declared punishment for crossing the Dark Lord. Over screaming protests and desperate pleas, a Death Eater with dark metal gauntlets held his wand up to Timmy. And killed him.
The unregistered Animagi, in grief and rage, tore away from their captors and escaped. Later, they would join in the Battle of Hogwarts. Keeping an eye out for the murderer of their son...
The Charn-Winger Kids
Alaire Whitecross: He is actually the son of Death Eater Merula Snyde and the deceased Ethren Whitecross, renowned Curse-Breaker. After the Battle of Hogwarts, knowing she'd be unable to take care of her child, Merula made Summer promise to take care of their son. The grief of Timmy's death still raw, Summer agreed and raised Alaire as her own son. Alaire was unaware of who his real parents were until he was eight years old, when Summer and Talbott told him. Even with the early years of tension in the family, Alaire loves his adoptive family, but that didn't stop him from once running away to look for his mother. He was Sorted into Ravenclaw (to the relief of everyone). His is smart and loves learning about all kinds of magic. He takes on the name Whitecross some time before going to Hogwarts (but he is still a Winger).
Grace Winger: About a year younger than Alaire, Grace is the eldest girl of the family. She was named after Talbott's mother and is gifted her feather necklace. She is a daddy's girl but surprises them by ending up in Slytherin. Grace feels the weight of all the legacies on her shoulders, including being the first child after Timmy. She talented at Transfiguration and wants to become an Animagus like her parents. Grace loves poetry from hours of her dad reading it to her as a kid. The girl has her mom’s beauty and ambition in spades. She also has Summer’s sly flirtatiousness. She is a daddy’s girl and feels resentment towards Alaire for taking up so much of her mom’s attention. Though slowly, competition becomes friendship and friendship becomes... something more.
Rhett Winger: The absolute rebel and troublemaker of the family. Rhett is always getting into trouble with his recklessness and desire for adventure. If you call him a chicken, he will react like every stupid McFly from Back to the Future. Though he acts all rebellious, he is very protective and sensitive about his family. It should not come as a surprise he was put in Gryffindor. He is a fantastic flier and obsessed with Puddlemore United. He is also flirty but much more aggressive and gloriously fails at it often. His brashness defies his cleverness and interest in old magic. He won’t admit it, but Study of Ancient Runes, Divination, and History of Magic are his favorite subjects.
Amaranth Winger: A happy ray of sunshine. Upbeat, incredibly caring of others, at one with nature and creatures, Amaranth is a Hufflepuff through and through. (It’s utterly adorable how excited she gets whenever Summer or Talbott go Animagus.) Her best friends are the family thestral and the Bowtruckle Lil’ Pip that Summer passed down to her. She absolutely adores Alaire as her big big brother and will trail after him like a duckling. So much so, she asked to be put in Ravenclaw (Hat said no kid you are definitely a Hufflepuff). Her love extends to everyone so fiercely and everyone responds in kind. No person, creature, or plant cannot love her. As the youngest, she is always wanting attention and is terrified of one day being ignored by everyone.
If y'all have any questions about these kids, ask away! I love them all so much!!! But you can probably guess which is my favorite... >.>

Timmy's Last
I hope you all don't hate me too much for the oncoming angst. Enjoy yourselves.

They came out of nowhere.
One second they were having dinner, the next Summer was shielding Timmy from the shattered glass while Talbott held up his wand.
"Summer! Get out of here! I'll hold them off!"
"Mama! Dada! Scared!"
"I'm not leaving you!"
"Take Timmy and run, curse you!" He pushed her away and scrambled to his feet.
She ducked as more glass fell around their heads. "Fine!"
Hoisting their son into her arms, Summer began a mad dash through the house as loud thuds and snaps echoed behind her. She ignored the pain in her bare feet, the old house fighting against her escape attempt. It would try and trap her their to die at the hands of Death Eaters. Just like Talbott's parents so long ago. Timmy was too young for Side-Along Apparation. They had no brooms. Her thestral was set loose soon after they had went into hiding. All she had to do was make it out and… run for the hills. Run, hide, come back for Talbott when Timmy was asleep. It was her only option.
"Travers, I've found one! Where do you think you're going, my pretty?" Behind her was a Death Eater, a witch by the sounds of it, cackling with glee.
Her response was to blast her with a Knock-Back Jinx and keep running.
But she didn't get far. Checking over her shoulder to make sure she had left the witch behind, she rammed face first into a black cloaked figure, gasping at the wind knocked out of her. Cold metal latched onto her arms, pinning her in place. Timmy let out a muffled wail as her eyes slowly lifted to a sickly green gaze.
A rough and familiar voice, muffled by the mask, rumbled, "Hello, cousin."
---
"Tell us where the others are hiding!"
"I don't know what you're talking about."
Smack! And blood trickled down her face.
"Oh, very clever. Think you can trick us, pretend you have no clue?" The Death Eater grabbed her face and yanked it closer to his mask. "We know you're both part of the Order!"
Her blue-green eyes simply narrowed. And she spat on his face.
Smack!
She was shoved over. Her vision swam but she could hear the scuffling of her husband behind her.
"Maybe you will talk, Winger. Lost Mummy and Daddy during the last war, didn't you? Don't want to lose Wifey now, do you? Or even yourself. What's the point of surviving the last one if you can't survive this one?"
There was a bang and he shrieked. She tried to roll over onto her side, to reach him, to stop his pain. Someone above kicked her in the gut.
"Tut tut, my pretty. No moving. Unless you want to answer our questions."
"I've told you, Winger" — bang — "we know you're Order members" — bang — "we know you know everything. So give us the stupid" — bang — "information!"
Talbott's shrieking faltered and turned into heavy panting. "I will never give anything to Death Eaters." He grunted, probably because he was hit. She couldn't see him.
"This is going nowhere!" whined the witch, like a child who tried and tried but couldn't get a toy to break.
A cool voice hummed in agreement. "This is a waste of our time."
"So we take it to the next step." The rough voice paused. "The next step has just presented itself."
The room was silent. She could just make out the hooded figures turning towards the corner. Where the crib they had thrown Timmy into was. Timmy, who had managed to slip out (the bars were getting loose) and was now standing in front of them.
"NO! NOT MY SON YOU, YOU PIECE OF SCUM!"
Travers knocked Talbott to the ground, head yanked back, wand to his throat. The witch yanked Summer up and back as she thrashed in her arms, frantically trying to get out of her grasp. Cold fear coiled around her heart.
"NO! Not Timmy! I'll tell you anything you want, just leave him alone!"
A hiss came in her ear as the Death Eater holding her back gripped harder. "It's far too late for that. You made your choice. Time to suffer the punishment of crossing the Dark Lord."
The two-year old started crying as the hooded and masked figure sank down to his level. The metal gauntlets on his hands flashed in the light, cruel claws curled around his twisted wand. His sickly green eyes glinted with perverse pleasure that reminded Summer of her younger self facing Rakepick. But this was worse. So much worse.
"Such a waste of pure blood. Blood of the Sacred Twenty-Eight even, but alas, tainted by blood traitor parents… Avada Kedavra!"
A flash of green light colored the room for a brief moment. Someone screamed. Summer couldn't tell if it was herself or Talbott. And in a single moment, the joy of their lives was unmoving on the ground, his blue eyes staring at nothing.
Little Timmy was gone.
Her son dead.
Murdered.
Talbott screeched and suddenly there was a golden eagle swooping down at the one holding onto Summer. The Death Eater gasped in pain, letting go. Summer snatched up their confiscated wands from the floor. She looked for her baby but there was no time. She too vanished, replaced by a cat. Both fled as far as they could into the night.
They didn't stop. Not for a long, long time. Long after the shouting was behind them. Long after the lights were out of view. Long after they were out of breath.
At last, with the night as black as those Death Eater cloaks, she could go no further and collapsed in a ditch. The eagle landed beside the cat, placing a comforting wing over her form. Rain began to fall and the couple returned to their human selves.
There were no words either could bare to utter. They stayed there, holding onto each other as their tears merged with the raindrops.
And missing that space between them where their little Timmy belonged.

Timmy's Short Life
Hey! So you may know I've written several angsty stories about Timmy Winger's death and the effects of it that all happen within in a few months, during Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. If you want to get the full brunt of the feels, I recommend reading them in order right after each other. Doing so made myself cry poor Summer and Talbott
