A tale of time

Tick tock tick tock. If only you could hear me, understand me, know me, you would all agree that I am evil. But who created the concept? Who decided that wrong is wrong and right is right? Who decided what good feels like, who decided what bad feels like? Sad and happy, why is one preferable to the other? These are questions I have been asking you humans forever, but you do not answer, you do not know. I watched when the answers were made, but I could not know why. There is no logic to it, logic is not something humans possess. I have been watching everything. Always, I do not rest. In other species, I am worshipped as a god, they understand that I am the one thing no one can change and they accept it. But humans? Ha, you spit on my name, you try to find your ways around me. You dream of it, you write of it, you tell of it, and I let you. I find it amusing, the others do not do this. I try to make you understand me, I take away your youth so you grow wise, yet you consider me a thief for this. I take away those who can go on no longer but in agony, yet for this I am a murderer, but I do not want you to suffer the rest of forever alone as I will. I have cradled you in my arms, I have given everyone more of me at some point, whether I make hours of nothing pass in minutes, minutes of a lot pass in hours, or I give you years longer than you should have, you do not recognize my gifts. I have even been cursed for them, I have watched as you thank a made up god for them, the closest I have ever gotten to humans was with the invention of the clock, I believe humanity is friends with this aspect of myself, for you all race against it and that is what children do with their friends, and to me you are children. The clock ticks by in even increments, seconds, sixty per minute, sixty minutes an hour, twenty four hours per day, around thirty days per month, and twelve months per year. This system must seem so complex to you, but it is based on the earthen moon and how your planet rotates. Every number here is a multiple of six, I am fond of the number and so I created this universe with it in mind, however many of you have deemed it to be a demon’s number. I will chalk that up to unfortunate coincidence, I would change that if I could, but I cannot. I flow forwards and backwards, but I am never still, I cannot stop and I cannot force you to do anything, but for those of you close to me, I weigh on you. I remind you of how limited your time here is, I am your ambition. I have been alone forever, as time goes both ways, but I grow weary of spending longer like this, so I ask you to remember this, remember it throughout your life and when my son, death comes for you, if you remember me, if you remember this, tell him, you can join me instead of walking to nothing, though if you join me, you cannot go back. Tick tock tick tock, we could be time, you and I, tangled forever and flowing, we could see everything, is that not what you mortals desire? Tick tock tick tock.
