Harry Potter has been there for me through the good and the bad times of my life. It has been a support and friend for me throughout my life. I know this may be an unpopular opinion, but I cannot give up on Harry Potter. I am however giving up on J. K. Rowling. Her hateful words are unacceptable. She does not deserve to have a platform in which she spreads hate. Trans Lives Matter. ⁣ ⁣ So in the future, if I buy any Harry Potter related merchandise — for example I will finish buying the Ravenclaw house editions and the illustrated editions to complete my sets — I will at minimum match the cost of the purchase and donate this amount to The Trevor Project. I’ve already done this with a donation to cover the copy of the Ravenclaw Order of the Phoenix edition that just arrived last week. I don’t share this to pat my own back, but rather to hold myself accountable. ⁣ ⁣ From this point forward, I will not be supporting any of J. K. Rowling’s other projects. I have ignored her anti-trans messages for far too long. I am done with J. K. Rowling. ⁣ ⁣ Harry Potter is a story of hope, love, friendship, and kindness. I will NOT let J.K. Totally one of my favorite reads from 2019! ⁣ ⁣ Serpent & Dove was definitely a little predictable and had a slow burn yet slightly insta love romance. HOWEVER, it was still amazing. I loved the story so much. Lou and Reid = swoon! My favorite part was the witches and covens. What are some of your favorite books (from the year so far) by debut authors?⁣ ⁣ I have read so many fantastic debuts this year! There Will Come a Darkness by @katyrosepool is definitely one of my favorites. I was instantly reminded of how incredible this series is (and how stunning the covers are)! Laini Taylor is truly an artist. She creates the most beautiful stories full of lyrical prose and stunning world building. I’ve loved both series from her and I can’t wait to see what she creates next!!⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Laini is definitely one of my favorite authors. I had to absolute pleasure of meeting her last year at Book Con!
