The lands of Sallestreii: Parandeh.
Parandeh.
In the north-east of Sallestreii lies the land of Parandeh, it is inhabited by the Avisan. The Avisan are a race of birdlike humanoids. They all walk upright and have claws on their wings that are used like human hands, this however, does not limit their ability to fly. When talking to other Avisan, they make sounds that other races normally hear from birds. When the Avisan talk to other races however, the do not open their mouths. They have a magical ability to make their voice heard in the minds of the beings around them. There are 6 types of Avisan to be found in Parandeh:
· Simorkh – This birdlike humanoid bears a resemblance to the Bearded Vultures that can be found in the Parandish mountain ranges. However, the Simorkh walks upright and can grow up to 2,50 meters tall. In all of Sallestreii there is only one family of the type Simorkh, the Royal family of Parandeh. Be it male or female, only one Simorkh child will hatch from its egg every generation. They will be raised to follow up to their father or mother and when their time comes to rule over Parandeh, the old king or queen will turn to ash. Simorkh have (unlike the other types of Avisan) the ability to mate with all other Avisan (Except for the Terrorri). The average lifespan of a Simorkh is 120 years.
· Taloni – This type of Avisan either shares it’s looks with the Golden Eagle that can be found in the forests of Parandeh and Traan or with the Bald Eagle that can be found all along the coastlines of Sallestreii. It is stronger than most other Avisan, for that reason they are most commonly used in the Parandish Army. They are also excellent hunters. Avisan Taloni can become 2 meters tall and they have an average lifespan of 120 years.
· Sobh – This Avisan can resembles either the barn owl or the Long-eared owl which are both found in the forests of Parandeh and Traan. Most Sobh are Scholars, Philosophers, Doctors, writers or scientists. They are also used in the army for battle tactics and stealth operations. The Sobh can also become 2 meters tall, their average lifespan however, is 140 years.
· Meshki – The Meshki look like common crows. They have a bad reputation and are heavily discriminated by the “higher” Avisan. Most Taloni and Sobh see the Meshki as nothing more than filthy thieves and beggars. Meshki are rather short for Avisan, they usually grow somewhere between 1,60 and 1,80 meters tall. They have an average lifespan of 90 years.
· Sefeed – The Sefeed share a resemblance with the common seagull. They share the Meshki’s reputation of being thieves and beggars. The Sefeed usually grow 2 meters tall and they have an average lifespan of 110 years.
· Terrorri – These flightless Avisan are seen as savages. They share their looks with the Terror-birds that can be found in the land of Lofander. The Terrori commonly live in nomadic tribes. They are excellent hunters and warriors as they trust on sheer power. This type of Avisan can’t be reasoned with. Not even the other Avisan can understand these terrifying creatures. The Terrori can grow almost 3 meters tall and have an average lifespan of 60 years.
Geology.
Kühderakht is Parandeh’s capitol. Kühderakht is nothing other cities however, for it is a mountain. On the side of the mountain there are openings to the giant cave system inside. These caves form the houses to the upper class Avisan.
On top of the mountain is a giant hollowed out pine tree which serves as the Royal Palace. Or as the Avisan say; The Royal Nest. Here, the Simorkh sits on its throne, guarding over their kingdom.
Around the foot of the mountain runs the river “Aval.” On the other side of this river are small villages inhabited by the Meshki and Sefeed.
To the east of Kühderakht is a mountain range, no Avisan lives here, not even the Terrorri. Most Avisan find the mountains too cold.
Apart from a village here and there, the rest of Parandeh is filled with Taiga forests. The Terrorri live primarily in the south, they do however live on the Island of “Taleyah.” This island is mostly inhabited by the Meshki, Sefeed and Taloni. The Taloni live on Taleyah for the hunt, for Taleyah is filled with creatures that are native to Taleyah.
