The Taliban has announced the CLOSURE of universities for women in Afghanistan, according to a letter by the Taliban's higher education minister. The letter states that all universities will remain closed for women until further notice. This violates the fundamental rights of women and girls in Afghanistan whom have the right to education. / El Taliban ha anunciado el CIERRE de universidades para las mujeres en Afganistán, según una carta del Ministro de Educación Superior. My work from Afghanistan has been selected by the International Photography Awards for the 2022 IPA "Best of Show" Exhibition. These winning images have been selected by this year's guest curator, esteemed photography Professor, Dr Mark Sealy.  Sharing some of his thoughts on his selection, he said: "One of the key things I wanted to achieve in bringing these images together was a sense of community. Curatorially I wanted to open up a conversation, to hold up a mirror that reflects the concerns of those bold enough to speak through images. Through the spectrum of this selection of images, I wanted to generate within the viewer a condition of responsibility and action towards greater social justice and cultural equity. The photographs presented here are often taxing. They ask us to play a role in building better futures. I wanted this selection of images to offer the viewer a sense of purpose and belonging beyond borders, beyond ethnicity, beyond identity, beyond THEM and US so that the condition of WE gets amplified. Therefore, through these photographs, I invite the audience to recognise that wherever WE are, WE must take responsibility for each "Other", and that commitment must be extended to all life on earth." Abdullah, 22 yards old has been a Taliban fighter since he was a teenagers, for the past 8 years he was in the battle fields now he wants to lay down his weapon and wished to go back to school in order to learn how to read and write.
