redesigned my teifling sorcerer Talica's outfit
I’m delighted when a game puts in a vampire love interest and knows exactly what it’s doing.
Taking my DnD Tiefling through BG3
I was given a giftcard for steam for Xmas and decided to get in on that good albino/elf/vampire I’ve seen going around. I’m having a lot of fun so far and will probably post more about it as I go but I also wanted to post some of the games issues as it IS still in development while asking for a full game price entry fee. Just to set expectations.
while high res textures are there it can take a bit of time for them to pop in for the first time.
a few times loading in characters will T pose for dominance until moving
Sometimes characters lips just wont move during their dialogue, normally non party NPCs
you have to move back to camp to switch out characters, you have to go up to the character you’re swapping out and tell them to stay then go and talk to the character you’re swapping in*
the character creator is cool with some options for non white face and hair, however there are no options to customise your face shape, you have a number of presets and that’s it.
tiefling tails occasionally bug out and stretch behind you (points for claws though)
there are ground traps and your npc allies WILL step in them while moving on their own if you can’t herd the group as far away as possible while exploring
(edit) also just found out you need to press a button to get merchants to give you money for your stuff..... with no warning you’ll just be giving them stuff for free if you press barter without pressing another button first
*while this is very good ‘immersion’ it also wasted time that could more easily be done in an interface. I also don’t know if you can leave the camp without spending a day and it sets off my time anxiety as there’s a few ticking clocks where I don’t know if they the ‘take your time’ type or not. Not to mention going up to a character and saying ‘I want you to stay at camp’ which they will be disappointed with which sets off my social anxiety big time. You also so far can only have 4 in your party including yourself so I foresee a LOT of swapping
So playing Talica with his shifty criminal upbringing has lead to some... interesting role playing developments and I decided I should keep track. (for the curious the party consists of Talica: Tiefling sorceror, Kaivalia: Tiefling bard and Bo(has a full name I’ll update when I can get it?): Dragonborn ranger)
The group of bandits the group fights on their first job together has a number of Underdark lizards, Bo manages to bring one over to their side thus gaining the party’s tank; Larry the Lizard. (Also important group member; Darryl the Donkey)
Kai suggests splitting more money between himself and Talica while the other member of the party is unconscious after a fight. Talica is up for this but didn’t suggest it.
They come across an abandoned ironbark and ore mine in an elven forest. Talica realises the real value of ‘loot’ being selling the location of the mine to interested parties.
There was some door that had elven writing that no one could read that they opened to come back to later, and apparently released a demon and Talica and Bo decided to blame it on the goblins that were there when they found it.
Bo found extra loot in the mine and tried to off load it when Kai and Talica weren’t around but Talica was in earshot. When questioned Bo offered to split the extra with him which Talica was up for.
Did end up selling the mine to rich merchants at the elven city with the help of a forged letter of recommendation that Talica prepared using his charlatan background.
Leave the city after a ‘large flying creature’ is seen in the sky at night. Talica makes sure to ask about possible dragons in the area and definitely not potential demons.
After doing some work at a border garrison the group is attacked by what seem to be demon cultists.
arrived in the second largest city in the area and found out Kai grew up in a Devil worshipping cult and there are an unusual amount of teiflings in the city. Talica tries to stay civil but rejects all deals save using a book from their library to read up on tieflings since he has next to no knowledge outside his own experience.
Unknown to the rest of the Group Kai offers to convince the group to fight and kill the demon they accidentally released with the help of the cults resources for an unknown price.
The group are offered a deal for a much better Bow for Bo if they clear out the gang of thieves that have been far more active of late. The group proceed to slaughter most of the group until the leader surrenders. Talica demands the name of their real boss after the leader protests he was hired and they then let the man go on the condition he gets out of town. (he says he’s going to go into insurance)
The group then proceed to charm their way in to a warehouse where the man who hired the bandits works (think big fat CEO). Talica Convinces him to clear the room of his associates save some guards before Bo dumps the heads of the dead thieves on the bosses desk (”Fuck Bo I thought you said you only had one!?”)
Having thoroughly intimidated the mob boss Talica suggest he pay them hush-money not to expose his criminal dealings and the Mob boss agrees, paying them in Saffron.
to be continued
In tonight's Dnd game
Talica and the party blackmailed a mob boss and intimidated the shit out of him
My Tiefling charlatan in a current dnd game has a negative modifier to his wisdom
I'm so used to playing pragmatic characters and my own anxiety brain warning about bad ideas that i have to remind myself that just because i think something is a bad idea doesn't mean he realises this.
Like say, selling an abandoned mine to people that may not end up happy with thier investment. (to be fair it is no longer populated by goblins and we might have let out the sealed evil in a can so technically the mine itself is probably fine)
