Breath and listen, place where time stops. 2/2012 Talinis, Negros Oriental.
Mount Talinis, also known as the Cuernos de Negros, is a complex volcano in the Philippine province of Negros Oriental. At about 1,903 metres above sea level, it is the second highest mountain on Negros Island after Mount Kanlaon.
Mt.Talinis Climb - Petix WMC's First Major Climb
Almost 2 years in the making!!! from our first trip to the jagged Osmeña Peak to the hellish 8 hour trek to the historic Mt. Manunggal. Finally!!!(yeah right finally) It's our first major climb to the majestic Mt. Talinis!! This 6,244 ft colossal splendor is a whole new ball game. Trek started from Dauin ends at Valencia, Negros Oriental. On the way up, you can’t avoid it, but you need to bitch about “Why the hell do you have to climb!”. You could have stayed home, watch TV, drink a cold beer but NO!!! Why do you have to climb 9 hours up and 7 hours down!!?? You have to hang, crawl, leap, jog, take off your pack, to get trough tons of fallen trees, gaping roots, and mud, but its all gonna make sense once you reach the the breath-taking Lake Yagumyum and ice-cold Lake Nailig. No need to mention the creepy/stinky Sulfur Vents!! All those bruises, stressed/painful legs and thighs, butt slides, split slides, back slides, strangely pain started to get funny and its all worth it. And don’t forget the soothing “Mountain Juice” at the end of a tiring day. Everyone had one heck of a time!!! As our lead climber (Basti) always says…. “WELCOME TO JAMROCK!!!” hehehe… [pasensya na engleys...ang sulat..para daw tunay kuno... hehhe..]
