Eliot sets up the barrel he has found in a nearby factory yard and has been rolling around. He fills it with whatever he could find in the dumpster and other places-- mostly pizza boxes, newspaper (do people still read them?) and some thrown out furniture. Pouring some vodka into the barrel, Eliot checks the surrounding. He rubs his hands together and mutters to himself, “alright, let’s make some fire.” Honestly, he has no reason to start a fire other than a) he was bored and b) maybe he could call his roommates afterward to have a party or something. Plus, he figured he could practice controlling the magic a little bit with this. Focusing and trying not to think too much about what Ilana said about magic, he images... slotting in the key and turning the ignition, the engine starting with that satisfying hum. Soon a small pillar of fire surges upward and he yelps, jumping backward. Only then he notices a spectator, illuminated by the light from the flame. “Oh, hey, er... didn’t see ya there. You like barbecue? ...I don’t have anything to grill but at least I’ve got fire?” He says, glossing over the fact that he just sets the barrel on fire with magic, and that the said barrel is now spewing out some dark smoke.
