While I’ve been very clear in my distaste for Rkelly and his proclivity for underage girls for yeeeears on all my platforms, #SurvingRKelly has really illuminated how many people were complicit and that there was a HUGE network of people and companies that protected him and aided him in abusive behaviour towards young black girls and women. The one thing that keeps being repeated is that No one spoke up. Especially not artists for fear of backlash. A young woman from Toronto did. She wanted all the smoke. 📢📢📢📢📢👊🏾👊🏾👊🏾@peachcup risked it all (against a lot of naysayers) to stand in solidarity with young girls and women who had been abused by this man and many others who use fame and privilege to subjugate vulnerable young women and girls. She got no support. I think it hurt her career. I KNOW she was already my #Bestie, but this made her my #SHERO. I KNOW thousands of her other fans feel the same. 👊🏾👊🏾 . I am so proud of you Mama, even for not listening to me when I was frightened for you. It’s not that no one spoke, it’s that not enough people listened. ❤️❤️ you #Badgyal! #TalkDiTingz #RudeGyalFrom19HowLong #TorontoTing #HeroIsAlreadyInHerName #EstHERO (at Queen Street West) https://www.instagram.com/missjemeni/p/BsTr7XfAn8D/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=odvcvlwv4fv7
