Before chapters 3 + 4 released I wasn’t a Tenna believer. Like, at all. I was a Tenna denier.

I thought “there’s no way these fanon designs are right”, so when I bought deltarune I was totally ready to see not Tenna. Imagne my surprise when Tenna, the game show host, appears as the Main Guy of chapter 3. So, funny story, I found this out from my dad.

We both downloaded deltarune together and started playing (he was curious to see this game I like so much). At this point he’s just speeding through the dialogue because he didn’t wait four entire years for these chapters to release and isn’t freaking out about every new sprite and line.

I finally get to the part where Ralsei lore dumps about dark worlds and the tone is very serious. It’s very important to know that my dad doesn’t wear headphones and his audio is playing through his speakers. And thats when I hear it.

To my absolute horror, I start hearing Tenna’s Feature Presentation. I’m getting whiplash from hearing about grooviness and gloobiness while Susie and Ralsei are still arguing about their feelings. And, not only is this the first time we’re hearing full spoken sentences from UT or DR, not only does this track say the most absurd things for someone not seeing the visuals, but it also ends by announcing “Mr. Ant Tenna’s TV Time”.

And there he was. Tenna. The TV-headed game show host. I was so shocked I just watched my dad play for an hour until he completed board 1. So yeah. Tenna’s dramatic entrance was spoiled for me by my dad, and that day I also found out that the fandom was right

A very topical, very contemporary episode of Ultraman Arc today. On the one hand, we got to see how cryptocurrencies and AI agents (programmed with the ~best~ of intentions!) can devour a city, economically and spiritually, with relentless hunger for money. On the other hand, we got to see Shu drag his long-suffering boyfriend Yuma into live-streaming as a cat boy, and Arc using YouPi as a segway. Great fun.

I want more Wemmbu being mentally unwell And like not okay and i don't mean in the cute way. I mean in the way he can't stand himself, in the way he idlely thinks he should be dead. Ya know?

that way of thinking you're never enough and unworthy of forgiveness. and the guilt naws at you but you can't bring yourself to think of offing yourself because the consequences are worse :)

Nova peeked around the wall of the balcony that looked over the lobby. Thankfully, no one was up yet, but it wouldn’t be much longer. She went back behind the wall and slunk to a sitting position on the ground. Unwrapping him from her belt, she pulled her stuffed puffin into her lap.

“It feels like the first day of school again, Sir Jorgenbjorgen…” she murmured to her friend. “I don’t know why I feel so afraid. I asked for this. I volunteered to be a therapist and Charlie said she would introduce me to everyone in the morning…”

Her head hit the wall with a thump, “And here I am talking to my stuffie like I’m five years old…”

Sir Jorgenbjorgen was a very well loved plushie. He had been squeezed thin from the many years of being held during nightmares. His once bright orange beak was now faded. His right wing had been reattached with new stitches. Nova had no idea how he managed to make it down here with her… maybe it was because she was holding him when she died in that plane crash…

“But, we’re all we have for now,” she softly said as she stroked the puffin’s head. “At least until we get back to mom and dad…”

She felt a few hot tears roll down her cheeks and she wiped them away with the back of her hand.

“Have a cry,” she softly reminded herself, before she rose to a stand.

“Pick myself up,” she added before dusting off her jeans. “Dust myself off. And keep going. The show must go on!”

Nova softly sighed as she tied her plush back to her belt. She looked back around the corner… to find the lobby still empty.

“I’m not gonna be the first one down there,” she scoffed.

Historical accuracy in pop history is tricky. I just finished a book (Destiny Disrupted) that mentioned the Taj Mahal.

You probably roughly know the story. An emperor’s wife died. Out of grief, he built her a mausoleum so beautiful that people struggle to put its beauty into words. 

According to the book, he spent the end of his life in a small prison cell with one window too high to see out of. After his death, the jailers find a mirror, perfectly placed to show the Taj Mahal’s reflection.

Poignant right? Looks like the library has a non-fiction book ABOUT the Taj Mahal available right now! I checked it out.

It’s fascinating! Mumtaz Mahal died giving birth to her FOURTEENTH child. The Mughal emperors used to have themself weighed against bags of gold and gems on their birthdays.  While traveling, the emperor employed men with ropes to measure the distance. They’d carry the rope forward until it ran out, call out the count, and then do it again.

You know what they never mention? The mirror. 

In fact, the Emperor was imprisoned by his own son and it seems likely (though history isn’t certain) that he remained in relative comfort.

The mirror thing isn’t even a big enough folktale that the Taj Mahal book felt the need to mention it and the book mentions a bunch of folktales. 

So what else did Destiny Disrupted, this well reviewed and seemingly comprehensive history of Islam, get wrong? Was it wrong about the group of assassins that terrorized the middle-east? Google thinks it was right! What about all of the other facts I don’t have time to double check?

Or was did the Taj Mahal book deliberately leave out the mirror anecdote for some reason? Who knows!
