The Luyas “Talking Mountains" - Brooklyn, Ny - 10/18/2012
This was literally the very first thing we did at CMJ. We hopped in our car in Philadelphia on Thursday morning and drove straight to Brooklyn to shoot this session with Montreal's The Luyas.
We met them at The Pencil Factory in Greenpoint and retreated into the basement of the old loft filled building via the large freight elevator. It was an enormous basement with several different sections filled with all kinds of household appliances.
The band found a clearing to set up and lead signer Jessie Stein kind of just wandered away from the bunch with her guitar so she could hear herself sing. They decided to play the slow burning tune 'Talking Mountains,' the seventh track off "Animator," which had just been released that week. Enjoy.
